The dreams had started again. Now at twenty five, Alma knew that the dreams that she had as a child had been dreams of a past life. She had done tons of research and had even gone to a fortune teller who helped her to find out more about who she had been. As it turned out, Alma had passed away during childbirth a while before the bubonic plague happened, though her friend had been unable to tell her just who her husband had been, claiming that trying to dig into that had sent waves of sickness though her.

Alma was in her bedroom back in Winter River, Connecticut, candles were lit and incense burning as she sat on her bed meditating, focusing on the dreams that she had been having. She had the place to herself since her father and Delia were on a trip to New York, looking for an art studio for Delia, so even though she had her own place, she was able to connect to the past so much more easily here. She had spoken to the Maitlands about it before and they figured that it was because of the veil being thin with them being here, whatever the case, Alma used it to her advantage to connect to her past.

A young woman with dark red hair walked down the cobblestone road, her shoes lightly tapping on the stones as she went, she had her lyre strapped to her side and a smile on her face. She was dressed in a plain brown dress and soft brown shoes, her long hair was tied up in a bun so it was out of the way of her pale green eyes. The young woman had been born in Ireland but ended up in Italy so she could escape a marriage that she was going to be forced into by her stepfather.

As she was walking, she suddenly bumped into someone and ended up falling to the ground with a squeak. "Ahh, sorry about that, I wasn't watching where I was going." Called a voice as a pale dirty hand was held out to her.

Looking up, the young woman's eyes landed on a rather tall man, he also didn't look Italian with his blond hair and bright blue eyes, he was dressed in brown trousers, scuffed black loafers, a dirty white shirt, and a brown vest. He was a rather attractive man, she had to admit. Reaching out, the young woman accepted the hand and got to her feet.

"No no, I should be the one apologizing, I wasn't watching where I was going either." She said, she spoke slowly so as to make sure he could understand her. She was still unsure about her ability to speak Italian or how it sounded with her accent so she always spoke carefully.

The man chuckled softly and shook his head. "Ahhh, not from around here? You sound like you are from Ireland." He said, speaking in English now, causing green eyes to become wide as she gave a nod of her head. "I haven't had a conversation with anyone in English in a while. So, what's a pretty young thing like yourself doing in Italy? Are you married to some lord?" He asked as he looked her over with a slight smirk on his face.

She was absolutely thrilled at the thought of being around someone she could speak to without sounding like a fool. "I highly doubt that a lord would allow his wife to play music for money." She said with a laugh, a soft blush on her face. "I...I actually ran away from home, my step father was going to try and marry me off to one of his business associates." She added, not even noticing that she hadn't taken her hand back yet.

"Well, that's quite the life that you've had my dear lady." He said before he reached out and took one of her hands, lifting it so that he could place a kiss on it. "My name is Betelgeuse Laferve." He said before he placed a kiss on her knuckles.

Her cheeks became flushed at the kiss to her knuckles, her heart fluttering in her chest. "Betelgeuse, that is a very unique name, I don't believe that I've ever met anyone by that name before." She said before giving a curtsey. "My name is Alma."
