Sophie's POV

A mother... A mother... A mother... A mother... A mother... A mother...

"HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?" I shout. How in the world? Edaline looks at me with her mouth half open. She looks kind of uncomfortable.

"Well -" She says, without finishing. Her long amber hair was tied into a messy bun, and her turquoise eyes were wide with shock.

"I know how it happened." I mumble. "But, but. NOOOOOO!!!!"

"Sophie" She says. She had recovered from the shock, and had that goofy smile of hers on. "This isn't a bad thing! You're starting a family! Plus, you told me just last night that you and Keefe were planning to have kids soon."

"Yeah! SOON. Not NOW."

"So? It's a little earlier than expected, but you are going to be a mother! An amazing mother as well! And Keefe will be a great father!"

"Oh no.... I have to tell Keefe."

"So? Didn't he say he was on board with having kids?"

"Yeah, but not right now... How will I tell him? I can't. I'll have to hide it from him!"

"Sophie. Relax." She gets up and wraps her arms around me. "Keefe will be fine. Plus, it will be kinda hard to hide it from him with your belly button looking like that. Anyway, I'd be more nervous about telling Grady."

"UGGGGGHHH!!! WHHHHYYYYYY?" I groan. Edaline laughs.

"Sophie. Your father and I love you, and Keefe so much. We will support you and the baby. Keefe, and Grady will be over the moon. It's all going to be fine. Come on, eat your lunch." She says. I feel a little bit better, but the idea of food makes me feel sick, despite being starving before.

"I've lost my appetite." I mumble.

"No, no. None of that. You're eating for two!"

_____

After Edaline leaves, I use the Vortinator to walk up the many stairs to my bedroom. Thanks to Dex, it was much slower than the one at Candleshade.

Almost a year ago, Keefe found this house for us, and it's perfect. With the house facing the beach, and woods and meadows surrounding the back of it, the outside of the home was made for us. The inside was simple but beautiful, with 4 bedrooms, (three on the second floor and one on the fourth floor) big offices, a library and even a sunroom, it was meant for me and Keefe. And, now apparently, the baby.

When I reach the huge master bedroom I take a moment to look around. A large bookshelf filled the wall opposite me, and on the wall to my left there is a door, that leads to a large en suite. To my right, the wall is a huge floor length glass window.  Against the wall I'm in line with, there is a large bed.

I find myself walking towards the mirror. Vertina's mirror. I take a deep breath before stepping into view of her. Her face clicks into view.

"Oh, so you decide to talk to me now do you? After ignoring me for - HOLY BEJEEBERS! YOUR PREGNANT????"

I look down at my stomach, a little bump sticking out of my singlet, a dead give away to the fact that she was having a baby.

"Yeah??? I think so." I say, wrapping my arms around my stomach.

"WOW. I did not see that coming. How come I don't get any virtual popcorn in here? Your life may as well be a movie. Wow."

"Tell me about it." I mumble. I look at her for a moment, and her snotty face softens.

"You're okay, right?" She asks.

"Yeah. I'm just... It's a shock you know? I said I wanted kids YESTERDAY. And now I have a kid. I wasn't expecting it. And now I have to tell Keefe. Vertina, you CANNOT tell Keefe. I need to do it. Soon."

"Okay. Fine. But this isn't a bad thing. You should be happy"

"I know. I'm not treating it as a bad thing. It's just a shock." I take a deep breath. "Okay. I'm going to go."

"Wait! Don't you want help hiding your belly-button?" I look at her and cautiously agree.

Vertina eventually gets me dressed into a padded red dress that only faintly shows my sticking out belly-button. Then, she puts a white top over it, making the dress look like a skirt. Then she tells me to put on some black tights and white boots.

And, to my surprise (after lots of whining) she actually convinces me to put on gold eyeliner and light lip-gloss. However, when she tries to get me to braid my hair and put on blush, I step out of range for her to see me.

When I make it outside, I look down at my stomach and wrap my arms around my waist. Somewhere in there, there is a tiny baby.

Then the realisation dawned. I was going to be a mother. To a beautiful baby! There was a life growing inside me! I was going to start a family! TO KEEFE! I can't believe it. A BABY! A child. Images flick through my mind, a child running through a field with Vidara, a nursery set up in the room downstairs, Keefe spinning a baby around and around in the air.

My life is perfect. My home is perfect. My husband, and future baby is perfect.

Everything is perfect.

Now all I have to do is tell Keefe.
