Matilda was returning to Hogwarts.
It was a week after term had resumed much to Matilda's disdain, however, she had tried her best to get to the point where she was allowed to go back – under strict rules, though.
"Now, remember you have to follow this meal plan. Madam Pomfrey will be briefed on it," Healer Mundy was saying, standing in front of Matilda with a list in his hand. "We really want you to keep excelling, Matilda. You've shown so much progress in the last two weeks, so really it's only up from here."
'This much progress', really? They were grasping at extremes at that point. Sure, her face was fuller and her bones were less pronounced than before, but she was still thin and her mind was still the same. The only reason Matilda was eating more was so that she could leave and return in time for the Final.
"...and so you need to stick to this plan," Calista finished, drawing Matilda's mind back to the present. "Are you ready to go?"
"Yes," Matilda said, sitting up. She was wearing the same navy blue jumper that she wore the last time she was in Hogwarts, but this time she matched it with a pair of denim jeans and boots. Her Gryffindor scarf was wrapped around her neck and her hair was tied into a low bun. "I'm ready."
There was a moment when all the doctors had to sign a form, officially releasing her. Calista gave Matilda an excited smile and walked over, wrapping her in a side hug. "Aren't you excited?"
"Yes, I just hope I get back in time to catch some of the match," Matilda said, shifting on the spot. "Do you reckon we can go now?"
Calista did a look around, "I think so. I've done all your paperwork, anyway. Nothing much else for us to do!" She held out her arm and Matilda took it.
With a crack, they arrived in the Hospital Wing.
Madam Pomfrey rushed over, "Miss Diggory! Calista! How good it is to have you back."
Matilda smiled politely, "Thank you. If you don't mind, I'm going to head down to the pitch!" Without a glance back, she ducked out of the Hospital Wing, leaving them to discuss her measures. From what Matilda understood, she was to eat her meals at the Wing and attend regular appointments with Calista once a week on a Tuesday evening. Other than that, Matilda was free at last.
She placed her things in her dorm before rushing back downstairs.
Matilda sprinted through the halls and down the stairs, moving with more agility than ever and her heart sank at the sight of students streaming in through the doors, engaged in lively conversations. Determined, she began approaching people, asking about the whereabouts of the Gryffindor team, but the majority dismissed her inquiries, brushing her off with indifference.
Someone tapped her on the shoulder and she turned around, only to be brought into a tight hug.
"Oh, Tilly! I'm sorry I've been such a terrible bitch! I shouldn't have turned on you like that, I'm so sorry!"
