Cameron.

Various chatters erupted from everyone in the class after the announcement was made from the intercom speakers. Jaden nudged me and smirked. "Wanna pair?" He asked and I raised an eyebrow.

"Cameron! Let's be partners!"

"Wait, Cameron doesn't have a partner yet? Please pick me!"

"Hayes! I know you hear me! Over here."

A similar flurry of requests followed the ones being heard. A Quiz had been announced and everyone was to be in pairs of twos for each year. The class with the highest scores rounded up wins an all expense paid trip to any place of their choice. Our school does this randomly so no one really sees it coming.

"Dude. I asked first." Jaden grumbled and I smirked. "Sure. Let's be partners." I finally said and he yelled in excitement. "TAKE THAT Y'ALL!"

Groans of disappointment filled the air but they barely lasted as Elsa walked into the class just then with her siblings and friends.

"Oh! Please let's be pairs!" A girl pleaded smiling up at Snow. She smiled nervously. "I'm so sorry. I'm already paired with my brother." She explained and the girl frowned sadly.

"Aries?" She asked hopefully. "Uhh Sorry Dalia. I'm paired with Cayla and Mia's with Julia Rose." He said and Dalia looked down at her feet.

Sam cleared his throat and she blinked up at him.
"I heard Tia doesn't have a partner yet. She's in the private library. Go get her." He said passing his private access card to her. She squealed before running off.

I rolled my eyes.

Everyone settled down discussing about what questions could possibly come out during the quiz. I watched as Snow walked up to my desk. Only she barely acknowledged me.

"Jaden Walker?" She asked and Jaden smiled up at her sitting upright. "Who's asking?" She smiled. "I'm Snow. Ms Melina asked me to hand these to you. Also she asked if you're ready to pick a tutor for your languages class." She said placing the papers on his desk.

A pretty big red F was staring up at me and I grimaced. "Shit. I failed? Fuck. When's the tutoring starting?" He asked and she glanced at her phone.

"You'll have to schedule that with the tutor you pick. You can go to the office to sort that out." She turned to leave but he called her back.

"Any possible chance you're the tutor?" He teased and she all but smiled down at him.

"Hard pass. It's actually someone with weird temperament. Tread carefully Jaden." She said and I scoffed loudly. She looked at me then walked away.

"She's so fucking gorgeous." Jaden sighed watching her. I smacked his head and he yelled in pain. "She just hinted that I'm your tutor you fucking dumbass." I snapped and his eyes grew wide.

"Well, I'm guessing it'll be an A+ when she comes with my papers next time." He joked and I let out a frustrated breath.

How did this friendship come about?

Everyone in the auditorium cheered as we were awarded a point. I looked at the score board. Year 2024 were in the lead with Year 2023 behind by just five points.

From each year about five to six competing students were left. We were entering the final section. 2023 against 2024.

"Alright students! That was a delightful match and the students in year 2024 is in the lead! Now this final section will determine which year wins the school trip!" Mr Rein announced as the watching students cheered loudly.
