Wins and happy faces - Chapter 7

Adeline POV

Lando did end up paying even though I told him I had no problem with paying for us. He said that "his mother raised him good" and that she would "have a hour long speech about him not being a gentleman and invite me to dinner". Honestly I can definitely see her doing that so I let him pay for his own good.

After lunch we went back to McLaren drivers house since Qualifying will start in less than an hour and Lando obviously needs to be ready before that.

My dad was already waiting for us as we walked into the drivers room.

"Where were you two?" He asked us as we approach him.

"Lunch." I answer with a smile before stoping in front of him.

My father nods and shifts his attention to the boy next to me.

"Lando you gotta get to your car we have a few things to discuss before Qualifying still."

"Will do." Lando replies and hugs me "See you later Lin." his muffled voice reaches my ears.

"Yup. Go get 'em" I tell him as a smile spread across my face. He smiled back at me and my father ruffled my hair a bit before disappearing with Lando.

I watched the whole Qualifying with Liz and let me tell you, we were both on the edge of our seats as both Lando and Oscar made it to the final round of Qualifying.

It was so exciting to watch and such a close result too. At the end Lando had the fastest lap and got P1 for tomorrow and Oscar was close behind Max Verstappen on P3. Liz and me were beyond happy and hugged after the results were clear.

Lando's happy smile appeared on the scream and I smile proudly.

After a few minutes Lando, Oscar, my dad and other McLaren workers walked back to us and I went up and hug my best friend tightly.

"You did amazing Lani!!" I express as my face was buried into his low key sweaty neck and he hugs me back.

"Thanks Lin. Appreciate it." he says with honesty in his voice.

"It's like I did nothing at all." A voice sounds next to us. I lift my head away from Lando and step back to see the Australian boy with a fake sad look in his face.

"You did amazing too Oscar, really." I say and hug him quick before stepping back again.
"Your Girlfriend and I were nearly of the couch that's how much we were invested!" Liz nods her head affirming my statement.

"You better have." Lando chuckles from next to me.

"Think you can finish P1 tomorrow too?" I ask Lando in a teasing way.

He shrugs and a small grin shows up in his lips.
"You'll see."

And I did see!

There were only 3 laps left and Lando was still in P1. He even has a gap of 13 seconds to Max Verstappen who is on P2 still behind Lando.
I was currently watching the race with my father.
Yes I know I'm not really supposed to be here but no one actually cares and also as sassy as it sounds: my father is the boss after all.

The nail on my thumb is violently being abused by my nails since I can't take the tension anymore.

2 laps left.

Standing next to my dad I can't help but move around nervously as I see Lando's car speed through the track. This wouldn't be his first win - that was just a few months ago, I was there- but this would be his second win ever.
