Wei Wuxian was feeling lost. For years, he spent believing that the only family he had was the Jiang family, Jiang Yanli was his sister and Jiang Wanyin was his brother. He had no idea that he had any other siblings or family alive. He knew about his grand master but he also knew that meeting her would be impossible. He had no idea where she was or what she looks like. Thus, upon suddenly finding out about her supposed sister, he was shocked speechless. He still couldn't decide, if she was his sister, should he go with her or not. Yet, for some reason he wanted to believe her. He felt some special connections with her.
While he was still conflicted, he heard the girl say something along the lines of "create problems within your family" to his Uncle. He couldn't help but feel like she was right. Due to his Uncle giving him too much attention, problems were created within the family. Not to mention, he never really liked the attention either. It made him like being in the spotlight. It made him uncomfortable.
He also saw his Uncle being skeptical about the girl's ability to take care of him. He didn't know why ,but he really wanted to scoff and say he could very much take care of himself and he didn't need to worry. Suddenly, before he understood, his Shijie was dragged into the conversation, with the hint that he would be next. What is that supposed to mean? How can he decide whether to leave Jiang Sect and let them be in peace or to stay loyal and never leave Jiang Cheng's side.
He really hoped his Shijie could make the decision for him, but even his Shijie looked conflicted. He felt relieved when his Shijie asked for some time. But then the girl suggested combat. That was fine until Uncle Jiang suggested the girl to combat with Wei Wuxian. How could he combat someone who is supposed to be his sister?!!!
Yet he could not deny his Uncle. He was the one to bring WeinWuxian in Lotus Pier and take care of him. Thus, with Suibian in his hand, he went to the training field to combat. He still couldn't help but feel guilty about it. Not only was the girl older than him but also exhausted. Not to mention she was a girl. He really did not want to do it. He suddenly realized there were a lot of things he did not want to do but did anyway just to make sure he wasn't upsetting his Uncle Jiang. It suddenly didn't feel right anymore.
Yet, with a heavy heart he went to stand infront of the girl. The girl just smiled at him. Suddenly a line echoed in his head, "but his A-Jie is back now". His A-Jie. That's new. He always had a Shijie, but never an A-Jie. He had always seen Jiang Cheng call Jiang Yanli A-Jie, but he was never allowed to do that. Madam Yu never liked it. Yet she never liked anything to do with Wei Wuxian. Having someone to call as A-Jie felt great. Now he really hoped this WAS his A-Jie. He really, really wanted a real family. Of course the one he had was great but all the same, it was never actually his. Never will it ever be. Thus he hardened his heart and attacked. He wanted to go slow but, for some reason, he couldn't. He attacked with his all, but she stopped the attack without much effort. He could see she was quite strong.
Thus, respecting her cultivation strength he didn't hesitate anymore and started fighting. She also started to respond but, he noticed, she did not attack, instead she only defended. He suddenly felt a sort of warmth in him. This was actual care, pampering, and worry. She did not want to hurt him, even in combat. He felt overwhelmed. Even though Jiang Wanyin was his brother, during their combat, he would never hold back. His want to prove his worth infront of his father was so great that he was ready to hurt his brother. Yet, even though it was important for her to prove herself too, she did not hurt him. Instead she only defended herself against him.
He looked around the "family" he had. Madam Yu and Jiang Cheng are also here now. Madam Yu's face held nothing but disgust as always. His Uncle Jiang looked as if he wanted the girl to lose. But why? Did he not want Wei Wuxian to have an actual family? Did he not want this girl to be his best friend's daughter? He had lovedWei Wuxian because he was Wei Changze's son, so he should have loved the girl too. He should hope that it is his best friend's daughter. But he didn't, why?
Jiang Cheng's face was darker than coal. Why? Did he also not want Wei Wuxian to have his own A-Jie? Jiang Cheng had his then, why can't he? Was he not allowed happiness? Was he not supposed to have a family? Could he really not leave? He suddenly wanted a family, an actual family. Someone to lean on. Someone who would not make him feel like... like ... an outsider.
Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up. It was his supposed sister. She looked worried. Her hands stretched to touch his cheeks. She slowly caressed his face and wiped his tears... tears?? He was crying? Why?
