Madam Yu, as expected, never let anything go without a fight. Jiang Fengmian, on the other hand, was surprisingly easy to deal with. He was all too happy to have someone close to his son, someone who might stand as a shield for him when the time came—whether it was out of gratitude or friendship didn’t really matter to him.

Madam Yu, though, hated the idea of admitting that her son was weaker than Wei Wuxian. Agreeing with Cary would mean acknowledging Jiang Cheng’s shortcomings as a sect leader, which her pride just wouldn’t allow. But the truth was the truth, no matter how much she resisted.

After a lot of careful wording and strategic flattery, Madam Yu finally relented. With everything settled, Cary and Adriana set off with their new group. Adriana stayed quiet the entire time, sensing the delicate situation. Even though she’d seen a few episodes of The Untamed and knew the basic storyline, she wasn’t as familiar with the characters as Cary. Letting the expert handle things seemed like the best option.

When they arrived in Yiling, the girls greeted them at the door. After quick introductions, everyone moved inside. Now, Cary not only had Wei Wuxian to help but also Yanli, who had grown up in large mansions and knew a lot more about decoration and layout than the rest of them. Cary decided to leave Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng with the other girls to start selecting disciples, while she and Yanli took charge of organizing and decorating the house.

Cary and Yanli spent the entire day walking around the house, assigning rooms, and finalizing areas. The training field was set up exactly where Cary had envisioned it. By the end of the day, which was really only half a day since the other half had been spent in Yunmeng, everyone was exhausted. Despite the work still left to do, they decided to call it a day. The six girls prepared something simple and quick to eat before heading off to sleep.

While Cary and Yanli were busy with the house, Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng were testing potential disciples. They personally sparred with each candidate, assessing their strengths and weaknesses. Based on their observations, they selected the most promising ones to be disciples, advising the others to try again next year. After making their selections, they grouped the disciples by seniority and focus, which reminded Jiang Cheng that they needed to choose a new head disciple—since, well, there was a vacancy.

Altogether, they picked 25 disciples and sent word to Cary to assign the rooms accordingly, making sure there would be space for future disciples as well.

That night, Cary expected to fall asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. Instead, her mind raced with thoughts about what came next. She’d been in this world for over a week now, and while she’d made progress, the sect still wasn’t fully established. How was she supposed to finish everything in just four years if things kept moving at this pace? She knew she had to push forward, but rushing could lead to mistakes.

Her thoughts drifted to the long list of tasks she needed to complete. It started simple: set up the sect, train the Yunmeng trio, slowly expand trade, send a letter to the Lans to acknowledge the Wei sect, and secure an invitation. Then there were the lectures, the indoctrination, saving Wei Wuxian and the Jiang Sect, and finally the fight. And in between all of that, she had to make sure Wen Ruohan couldn’t get more than one piece of the Yin Iron.

But as her mind spiraled deeper into the details, things became more complex. She had to find a way to stop Wei Wuxian from ruining his image in front of Lan Qiren, make sure he kept quiet around Wen Chao—since that bastard didn’t deserve to hear his voice—and ensure that Wen Chao wouldn’t notice Wei Wuxian too quickly. The last thing she wanted was for that creep to target him early.

The more she thought about it, the more tangled her plans became. Trying to calculate the timing of everything left her mentally drained. Eventually, after what felt like hours of overthinking, her body and mind finally gave out, and she drifted off to sleep. But as always, falling asleep while exhausted triggered her brain’s danger signals—ever since the incident...
