BOOM Part 4

Murphy never left my side as we walked further.

Up Sand dunes, down sand dunes that's all we ever did. '' You know If I was never to see another sand dune again in my life I would be so unearthly happy. '' I called to Jaha.

He just raised his staff to me but I earned a well deserved chuckle from Murphy.

As we reached the top of another sandy mountain all I could see ahead was a flat dusty wasteland.

'' well looks like you got your wish, princess. '' As Murphy walked by I couldn't help but smile at the nickname.

As we reached the bottom, one of the guys from the group was telling another one of his infuriating jokes. They really werent in the slightest way what so ever funny.

'' if you don't shut up I will beat you with Jaha's stick. '' I tried so hard to hold in the laughed when Jaha warned John.

John grabbed the back of my elbow. '' We at least you get my humor. '' he whispered so close to my ear the skin of his lips brushed the shell of my ear.

I slowly turned to face him and smirked, but the guy didn't stop telling his jokes.

I guess you can say what happened next was karma.

In a way.

As he was in the middle of telling another joke he veered off to the left a bit, I heard a snap only to look over and have fire and a loud explosion in my face.

I couldn't even get out a scream as I was knocked to the floor and my hearing and sight blurred.

I was thrown back a bit but twisted, landing on my front but something seemed to soften my blow to the ground.

When I had recovered enough I found myself sitting up only to be straddling Murphys waist.

He sat up and suddenly we were face to face. '' How is it that we always find ourselves in this situation? '' The most smug smirk I had ever seen came off his lips.

All I could do was raise my eyebrows at him.

Just then a girl had scooted backwards and I heard the click again and then BOOOOM.

Murphy grabbed my head and shoved it into his chest turning over so he could shield me from the blast.

When everything had calmed Murphy released his grip on me but instead hovered above me. I laid there in the soft cool sand staring up at the boy I had known for only 24 hours and I already felt a spark between us.

'' Just stay still! Nobody move. '' Jaha announced but Murphy didn't.

With an awkward cough Murphy gently sat himself very close next to me.

'' what know? '' A boy to my left said.

'' We sit, and wait. '' Everyone started to grumble but I didn't listen.

'' Thanks. '' I sat up gently too and crossed my legs.

'' For what. '' he furrowed his eyebrows and turned so he was face to face with me, crossed legged our knees touching.

'' being a human shield. ''

'' Ha well if you knew me well you would have been gobsmacked. '' he chuckled nervously.

'' What's that supposed to mean? '' now it was my turn to look confused.

'' listen am really not the good guy. '' he seemed a little disappointed in himself but that faded quickly.

'' Murphy am sure whatever you did in your past, there are certain events that have changed you, and if not your future will if you pick it right. '' He looked stunned, like I had just told him that I loved him.

'' what? Murphy. '' I clicked my fingers in front of his glazed stare.

'' wow, you're just wow. '' I looked away when I felt the blood rush to my face.

'' Okay I didn't say anything back there but can you two please stop flirting it makes me want to throw up. '' this came from a short, ginger haired boy sat near to Jaha.

I was shocked, but then looking at Jaha he just laughed and then pulled a straight face and wacked the boy with his stick which made us all burst into laughter.

It was a strange mixture, sitting there in the sand surrounded by explosives with a bunch of strangers yet I was quite content.
