Chapter One: Faded Roses

The wind howled through the grand halls, shaking the ancient castle's walls with an eerie force. Shadows danced in the candlelight, flickering with every gust, yet there was a stillness, a coldness that lingered in the air. Y/N felt it deep within her bones. Her heart, long untouched by the passage of time, beat slower now as if even it knew tonight was different.

Something was coming. She could feel it.

She stood by the window, gazing out over the barren landscape. The once lush gardens were now a distant memory of spring, the roses wilting beneath a sky heavy with the weight of an impending storm. The roses. Pink roses, just like the one she held in her hand. Its petals were delicate, fragile, already curling at the edges as if the life it once carried was slipping away.

Her thoughts drifted, unbidden, to him.

The prince of darkness, with raven hair that fell over eyes as dark as midnight. He had captured her heart effortlessly, with a single smile that softened the sharp edges of her immortal existence. He had given her the rose once, its soft blush a symbol of their love, a love that defied their world. "For you," he had whispered, his voice a low murmur. "Because you are my pink rose."

But now he was gone, yet his magestic form was present in her mind and heart, so vividly. His absence gnawed at her soul, an aching void she could not escape.

The door to her chamber creaked open, breaking the silence. She didn't turn. She already knew who it was. Jin, ever loyal, ever watching, his presence familiar, comforting, yet there was a heaviness in his steps that she couldn't ignore.

"They're waiting for you," he said softly, but his voice carried a tension that set her on edge.

Y/N's gaze remained fixed on the horizon. The sky, once filled with the vibrant colors of twilight, was now swallowed by darkness. "Where is he?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, though each word was sharp with fear.

Jin hesitated, his silence stretching thin between them. When he finally spoke, it was with eyes cast downward. "I don't know."

She turned to face him, her heart constricting. "You're lying."

Before he could respond, the glass behind her shattered, sending a spray of shards into the room. In the chaos, Y/N barely registered the searing pain in her chest, the cold steel that had pierced her heart. Her vision blurred, and the world around her spun, tilting, fading. Her fingers instinctively grasped at the wound, but it was futile. The life that had sustained her for centuries was slipping away like water through her fingers.

Her knees gave out, and she crumpled to the floor, gasping for air that seemed further and further out of reach. The rose, once vibrant in her hand, fell beside her, its petals scattering across the stone floor like remnants of a life she couldn't hold on to.
