Needle & Thread

21 10 1

(Verse 1)

Needle and thread, sitting in front of my sewing machine,

Wondering what to make for your little one, so serene.

Remember we had some good times, when our world didn't fall apart,

But then you left for war, tearing at my heart.

(Chorus)

I know you've moved on, with a wife and a daughter,

I wish I could turn back time, freeze the moments we had together.

But those days are gone, the past is now dead,

I'm stitching up my life, with this needle and thread.

(Verse 2)

The last time we saw each other, you were heading out the door,

The memories of you, like ghosts, I can't ignore.

Your words ring in my head, like an alarm that won't fade,

Saying how you wanted a daughter, one just like me someday.

(Chorus)

I know you're moved on, with a wife and a daughter,

I wish I could turn back time, freeze the moments we had together.

But those days are gone, the past is now dead.

I am stitching up my life, with this needle and thread.

(Verse 3)

But I'm looking forward, to starting my new life,

In a week, I'll be married, I'll be someone's wife.

I closed the chapter of our past long ago,

With every stitch, I'm letting you go.

(Bridge)

Now I'm more than ready, to experience real love,

With someone who's here, not just a dream I'm thinking of.

I've erased you from my heart, it's not where you belong,

I'm mending my future, where I truly feel strong.

(Chorus)

I know you've moved on, with a wife and a daughter,

I wish I could turn back time, freeze the moments we had together.

But those days are gone, the past is now dead,

I'm stitching up my life, with this needle and thread.

(Outro)

Needle and thread, I'm weaving a new story,

One that's filled with love, not just faded glory.

I'm ready for tomorrow, with my true love by my side,

The past is behind me, in my heart, there's no divide.

Backstory:  As a poet and songwriter I love storytelling, I think that's what makes us special and unique. So this song is an example of such a story which describes the sad love story of a former couple who used to love one another. So the guy went for war(which you guys can assume maybe world war 1 or 2, I wanted it to be a mystery of which war) and the antagonist was pretty much heartbroken. But in the end she found real & true love. This is my first song depicting a story, there maybe more songs like this in future.
