I'm Fighting For A Reason

"So you two are now the officially recruited agents 3 and 4. I honestly have no idea where the other agent 3 is. Agents 1 and 2 have looked all over Octo Valley, but no luck. You'll meet agents 1 and 2 soon." Cap'n Cuttlefish beamed.

Me and Lucas sweat dropped. "Eh heh...great..." I said sarcastically.

"I don't even question myself why I'm sending two kids into war..."

"What?"I asked.

"What?" he asked hesitating.

"This is a load of barnacles..." Lucas whispered to me.

"You two have overcome many challenges so far. I hate to say it, but there are challenges that will decide whether you're ready to rescue the Good Zapfish." (That's what I like to call the Zapfish at the end of each boss level.)

"Um...are there more than one Good Zapfish?" I asked.

"Of course! Now, off ya go, buckos! We're on our way to the Kelp Dome."

Kelp Dome

Kelp Dome was mostly filled with nature. Callie and Marie say that this is the number 1 place in Inkopolis where people go to plant and grow things.

"Kelp Dome looks...different." Lucas said. Indeed things did. The place was filled with Octarian technology. When I took my first step, Cap'n Cuttlefish stopped me from going any further. "Hold on, lads. We've got company."

I looked ahead and saw Octavia along with two small, random octarians.

Octavia's P.O.V.

"I can't even trust you goons to handle two squids. How hard is that?" I said pulling out my IPad. "Is the team set?"

One of the Octarian soldiers shivered in fear. "Uh...n-no my lady. We've had trouble getting the team ready because we had to help the other Octarians.

My face turned into a frown.

"Please don't tell Elvira!" The little one said in a wobbly tone.

"......You're lucky you're one of my favorites. You're definitely lucky I hate this job just as much as you do."

The little one dramatically fainted on the floor. Elvira was the one that everyone was afraid of. I try my best to save these little amateurs from getting hurt.

"Quit playing dead!"

The other small one had a little hat that would enable him to fly. "Um my sweetness, I don't mean to be a bearer of bad news, but the squids are here."

"Don't call me sweet, I'm not sweet...I'm freaking adorable!"

I looked straight ahead and saw to squids...and that old coot again..."Of course! Why not?" I said sarcastically facepalming. "Let's just get this over with. I want you two to head to the second place and find a spot where you can protect the other Zapfish."

"Well what about you?" He asked.

"I've got backup. I'm an Octarian. I can handle this on my own while looking fabulous doing it."

Both of the small ones nodded there heads and departed. I pulled out my walky talky. "Let's go, girls!"

Mindy's P.O.V.

"I say we split up. If one of us finds the Zapfish, it'll be easier to advance." I said.

"But what if one of us gets splat?" Lucas asked.

"We're squid kids, dummy! We can just fly to each other!" I smiled.

Lucas and I split up searching for the Zapfish. Just then, a group of Octarian girls showed up. Were they clones?

"After them!" One of them shouted. The girls were throwing splat bombs repeatedly. I figured that the only way I was going to get out of this was to use my quick reflexes. It made me wonder how Lucas was doing.

Lucas's P.O.V.

I can't believe I agreed to do this....wait...no I didn't. I walked around the Kelp Dome without hearing any sounds of the Octarians. I'm sure I'm almost there...right?

CLANK!

"Huh?"

BEEP BEEP!

"Oh sh...."

BOOM!

"Do you really think you have what it takes to stop us?!"

GWAK!

"Did that old coot Cuttlefish really send a kid into war? Against elite Octarians?! Pathetic!"

I looked up and saw an Octarian, but her voice wasn't the same as Octavia's. I was in so much pain I couldn't think about what was going on. I wished she would've killed me right then.

"We will take your precious Zapfish and there is nothing you can do about it! Once I'm done here, there won't be anything but a splat left of you! This will teach you not to mess with the Octarians again!"

"LET HIM GO YOU 8-LIMBED SUCKER!"

"Huh?" The Octarian said looking behind her. What was seen was Mindy flying in the air shooting ink at the Octarian.

SPLAT!

"LUCAS!" she shouted running towards me dropping her gun. She fell on her knees and carefully held me up. "Are you okay? Please be okay!" she said with a worried face.

"She's right..."

"Huh?"

Tears started forming on my eyes. "We're just kids. Our turf wars are nothing compared to this. Why did Cap'n choose us? We can't do this..."

I honestly hated that she had to see me like this. She's never seen me cry before.

"Lucas....you...you fool!" She said in a brittle voice.

"Huh?"

She hugged me tight. "We can do this! We will win! Together! We will protect each other. We-!"

Mindy's voice was brittle and she soon started to sob. We both felt the exact same way. I then thought of things in a different way. We can do this together.

"It's okay, Mindy...I'm scared too..."

Mindy wiped her face of her emotional sobbing. "Lucas...It's my fault you're hurt. It's all mine. I promise...from here on out, we stick together through thick and thin."

"No, Mindy....you don't have to blame yourself for this."

"Yes I do! I'm supposed to be the future champ of Inkopolis everyone expects me to be! How can I do that when I can't even make up a simple plan without messing things up?"

"Mindy..."

Cap'n Cuttlefish came over clapping slowly. "Good job you two! I knew you had it in you. Now it's time to face the second challenge even tougher than this one. If you can survive that, you'll survive the boss and maybe even the other ones too!"

Cap'n better be lucky he's old. I just wanted to punch this guy right now after that performance.

"I know you two are probably mad at me right now, but just help an old guy out...please. I didn't give you guys a choice to be here and you didn't have a choice to help me..."

Me and Mindy looked at each other and nodded our heads and then looked back at him. "Of course we wanna do it. I believe we can do it!" Mindy beamed.

The Cap'n was pleased to hear the news. He looked at Lucas. "Aye, lad! You can take a break for a while. Meanwhile, I'm gonna figure out what the Octarians are doing."

Mindy nudged me on the arm. "Everything's gonna be fine. I promise."
