Daisy's phone buzzed loudly on the table, pulling her out of the quiet moment they were sharing in the studio. Taylor was in the middle of adjusting some notes on her piano, humming softly to herself, but she glanced over when Daisy picked up the phone. Daisy's face fell slightly as she read the screen, her heart sinking a little.
"It's the set," Daisy said quietly, her voice tight. She stood up, pacing a little as she answered the call, already knowing what was coming. After a few seconds of listening, she sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Yeah, I understand. I'll be there soon. Thanks."
When she hung up, Taylor was watching her, concern in her eyes. "You have to go back, don't you?"
Daisy nodded, feeling a weight settle in her chest. "Yeah, they need me on set. Filming's behind schedule, and they can't afford any more delays."
Taylor's expression softened, though there was a hint of disappointment in her eyes. She stood up, closing the distance between them with a few steps. "I knew this moment was coming," Taylor said softly, a smile tugging at her lips, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. "But it doesn't mean I'm happy about it."
Daisy chuckled softly, the tension easing just a little. "Neither am I. I wish I could stay here with you."
Taylor reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair behind Daisy's ear. "We'll make time. You're almost done filming, right?"
Daisy nodded, her heart lifting just a little. "Yeah, just a few more weeks."
Taylor leaned in, her forehead resting against Daisy's for a moment. "Then we'll have all the time in the world," she whispered, her breath warm against Daisy's skin.
Daisy felt the pull again, that familiar ache of wanting more, wanting Taylor closer. Without thinking, she closed the distance, pressing her lips gently against Taylor's. It was soft, slow—neither of them rushing, neither of them needing to. The kiss held the promise of more to come, but for now, it was enough.
When they pulled back, Taylor's eyes lingered on Daisy's, a soft smile on her lips. "I'll miss you," she whispered.
Daisy swallowed the lump in her throat, brushing her fingers over Taylor's cheek. "I'll miss you too."
Daisy lingered for a moment longer, reluctant to leave the warmth of Taylor's presence. But the reality of her commitment on set tugged at her, reminding her that she couldn't stay here, as much as she wanted to.
"I should get going," she murmured, stepping back reluctantly. Taylor's hand slipped from hers, the absence of it already making Daisy feel the distance between them, but they exchanged soft smiles—an unspoken promise that this wasn't goodbye.
"I'll drive you," Taylor offered, but Daisy shook her head gently.
"No, I'll call a car. You've got your work to do here," she said, gesturing to the studio. "Besides, I don't want you to leave the studio just for me."
Taylor smiled at that, a knowing look in her eyes. "Alright," she relented, though there was a hint of reluctance. "But text me when you get there, okay?"
Daisy nodded, grabbing her jacket and bag, and as she walked to the door, she hesitated, turning around once more. "I'll see you soon, yeah?"
"Definitely," Taylor said with a grin, her voice softening. "Soon."
With that, Daisy headed out the door, her footsteps echoing in the stairwell as she made her way out of the studio. She glanced back once, her heart swelling with a mix of longing and excitement. It felt like something significant had shifted between them, a step forward into uncharted territory, but she couldn't help but feel a little giddy about it.
