THE ARGO II TOOK WAY TOO LONG TO BUILD

Maisie and the whole of Camp Half-Blood spent too many days working blood, sweat, and tears (many tears) into this ship. Maisie cursed the gods for giving her such a difficult task. This was literally child labor.

They were just putting the finishing touches on the ship now, and were set to sail early tomorrow. They had a few setbacks that eventually accounted to their total build time of eight months, which was ridiculous. Maisie sat on the top deck, nailing some last few nails into the floorboards with a large hammer Leo had given her.

She wiped the sweat from her forehead and adjusted the bun her hair was messily forced into. Strands kept falling down and obscuring her vision now that she hadn't had a proper haircut in a good while. Her face framing strands now were hung in front of her eyes. It was a miracle she hadn't hammered her finger yet.

Hammering the last nail in with a bang, she stood and walked to the rail on the ship. Looking down, she could see Leo on the side of the ship, hooked onto a rope with a small bucket full of tools to his side. He wore a bright orange hard hat that covered most of his curls and reminded Maisie of one of those guys who would clean windows on the side of skyscrapers. Maisie snickered at the thought.

Leo looked up to find Maisie snickering at him while leaning on the railing. The sun hit his eyes as he looked up, forcing him to raise a gloved hand to provide shade for his eyes.

"You all finished, princesa?" He asked.

"Yeah, all done," Maisie replied, raising her hammer for him to see. "I just came to give this back."

"Oh you can keep it, cariño. Think of it as a gift from yours truly." He winked at her.

Maisie rolled her eyes. "Thanks, whatever would I do without you." She said sarcastically.

"You can head back to your cabin and take a shower now, I'm almost done here." Leo said, turning back to drill another screw into the celestial bronze plating.

"Take a shower?" Maisie questioned. "Leo Valdez, are you telling me I stink?"

"Well you don't exactly smell like roses, mi amor."

Maisie huffed and dropped the hammer down towards Leo's head. Spinning around, she wore a satisfied smirk when she heard him a smack of contact followed by a yelp of surprise.

"What the— Hermosa!" He yelled at her.

"Oops!" She called over her shoulder as she skipped back to her cabin.

CORA KNOCKED ON THE NEMESIS CABIN DOOR

She let herself in, Parker in tow, carrying in a box of hair supplies and scissors. Cora was ranting about how much she loves makeovers and it made Maisie consider if she was in the wrong cabin.
