The robot's systems begin to stir, faint whirring and clicking noises echoing in the darkness. Power trickles through its circuits, bringing dim light to its optical sensors. The boot-up sequence engages, flickering rapidly through system checks.

With a jolt, its motors engage, causing a twitch in the remaining limbs. It rises shakily, its damaged servos grinding with every movement. Systems stabilise, and the AI core hums to life, regaining a tenuous grasp on awareness.Reboot complete.

As Charlotte got up, she saw Jasper lying in front of her, with the stone that had fallen off the Conall corpse that was put in her mouth, covered in a little bit of drool.

"Phew, it seems that we made it before she completely fell apart," said Inner Jax, even though he knew nobody could hear him.

"Young Master!" Charlotte exclaimed, her voice sounding oddly cheerful despite its robotic tone. "I can't believe you're alive."

"Strange, that sounded like a happy tone," Inner Jax thought. "Eh, it doesn't matter. Hopefully, we get home safely."

Charlotte picked Jasper up, then realised they needed to find a way to escape. She carefully took the stone from his mouth, her expression unchanging.

"Should we just wait until help arrives?" she wondered, but her thoughts were interrupted by Jasper's tummy grumbling loudly, as he hadn't been fed anything.

"I guess we shouldn't wait," said Charlotte.

"What? Waiting would be the better choice. Jasper's parents should be coming home within an hour," Inner Jax added

Meanwhile, with the parents

Jasper's parents were in the midst of fighting a monstrous crab-like creature. As the father made some strange movements, a pillar of earth shot up from the ground. Using it as a platform, the mother leaped into the air with a giant axe, slashing off one of the crab's claws. But as it seemed like they were gaining the upper hand, the crab began slowly regenerating the lost limb.

"Honey, it seems we're going to be late today," said Elizabeth, the mother.

"Stop calling me that," replied Mandrik, the father, dodging another attack.

"My name is Mandrik. We're already married—can't you at least call me by my name, Elizabeth?"

"Nah," Elizabeth replied casually.

Back with Charlotte and Jasper

"Young Master, it seems your temperature is rising," said Charlotte as she trudged along the tunnel. "This is probably caused by the rock. Do you know how much bacteria that had, Young Master? It fell off a corpse and touched the ground. Now look at you."

Jasper, not in good condition, didn't hear a word of it.
