Little Interaction
"CALINE! YON IS HERE!"
I felt a knot in my stomach as I stood behind the door, the sound of Kuya Shallum's voice echoing in my ears.
Mabilis na sumampa ako sa kama at natalukbong, pretending to sleep.
"Caline? Yon is here, he wants to talk to you." I didn’t respond, clinging to my decision to avoid him. The rejection still stung and annoys me too much.
After a moment of silence, I assumed Kuya Shallum had told him I was asleep. But when the knocking stopped, I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. I wanted to face Yon, but I was scared—scared of the pain, scared of his words telling me to forget him.
Then, Kuya Shallum’s voice cut through my thoughts again. "You're asleep, huh?" He startled me, and I pressed a hand to my chest.
"Kuya! You scared me!" I exclaimed, annoyance creeping in as he crossed his arms, concern etched on his face.
"S-si Yon?" I asked, my heart racing.
"Downstairs."
I sighed, knowing he wouldn’t give up easily. "Did something happen? You don’t act like this. You always look excited when he visits you."
I avoided his gaze, busying myself with straightening my bed.
"Wag ka kuyang chismoso riyan."
Kuya stepped closer, raising an eyebrow. "Anong chismoso? I'm just concerned! Baka kasi mamaya sinaktan ka ng batang iyon."
His seriousness only made me more reluctant to open up. I didn’t want to worry him or my siblings. Instead, I blurted out a random question. Para makalayo na rin sa mga posibleng itanong niya tungkol kay Yon.
My mouth suddenly blurted out about one of the most random question.
"Ah Kuya? Do y-you believe in Vampires?"
Gusto kong takpan ang bibig ko. This mouth should be ban from asking!
He smirked, leaning in. "Yeah, I do."
“Bakit?”
"Cause they're real."
I froze, my curiosity piqued despite my nerves. "How can you say they're real?"
"Cause I've met one."
I blinked, caught off guard. "Seriously?"
“Hahaha, just kidding! Bumaba ka na nga.”
Even though it was a joke, his words lingered in my mind, making me question everything. Taking a deep breath, I steeled myself. I had to face Yon.
"Ang random mo"
Natatawa niya pang ani.
Napangiti ako ng pilit.
"Why did you asked? I've noticed this fast few days you've been interested about them"
Seryuso ang tono ng boses niya. Kinabahan naman ako. I knew to myself that I had to kept everything about them secret. He might be really knew about vampire.
Based on my dream, he was there lifting me up, running. Napalunok ako. Biglang pumasok sa isipan ko sila Vael.
"Wala kuya, I've read lots of fantasy story I guess, It just a dumb question of me kuya"
Natatawa ko pang ani. His emerald eyes peirce through me.
"I knew that you up to something, I also observed that you're seeing one. Is it Vael?"
