The sun was shining brightly as Diana and Bucky strolled through the park, hand in hand. The smell of coffee filled the crisp morning air, and Diana sipped from her cup, her face glowing with contentment. She pouted playfully as they received a call from Steve, informing them about an urgent mission briefing. Bucky noticed her expression and chuckled, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. "We'll finish our walk after," he promised.

Reluctantly, they returned to the Avengers compound, walking into the briefing room together. The familiar faces of their teammates were already seated, including Steve, Natasha, and Sam, all awaiting Fury's arrival. As soon as they took their seats, Fury strode in, his expression as serious as ever.

"Alright, listen up," Fury began, pulling up the images of weapons on the screen. "These are going to be exchanged between the enemy and a group of potential buyers at an upcoming event. We need to intercept and gather intel before the transaction happens."

Diana reached out and grabbed the file, flipping through the pictures before passing them to Bucky. "They've got military markings," she observed, her brow furrowed. "Not just any weapons."

Bucky took the file, his sharp eyes scanning the images. "These are high-grade assault rifles," he said, tapping one of the photos. "Standard issue for elite military units. They're using full metal jacket rounds—those things could pierce armor."

Fury nodded, confirming Bucky's assessment. "Exactly. That's why this mission is critical. We need two agents to go undercover at the event where the exchange is happening. The target heads of the deal are a married couple, so we'll need our agents to blend in."

Fury paused, letting the importance of the task sink in before his gaze landed on Diana and Bucky. "Barnes, Valentine, you two are the best fit for this mission."

Diana and Bucky exchanged a glance, grins spreading across their faces at the thought of posing as a couple undercover. It was hard not to be amused by the idea, given how close they had already become.

"Oh, we can definitely pull that off," Diana said, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she leaned toward Bucky. "We've got the chemistry, after all."

Bucky smirked, clearly enjoying the idea just as much. "More than enough," he agreed, his voice low as he winked at her. "Think we might have fun with this one."

Natasha, who had been silently watching their banter, raised an eyebrow but couldn't help the small smile that tugged at her lips. "I hope you two don't forget the mission while you're playing house."

"Who, us?" Diana teased, nudging Bucky's shoulder playfully. "We're professionals."

Bucky's grin widened. "Professionals who know how to sell it," he added, his hand brushing against Diana's as he spoke.

As Fury laid out more details of the operation, explaining how they would need to infiltrate the high-end event disguised as wealthy socialites, Diana and Bucky exchanged another look. Their excitement was palpable, the thought of going undercover together stirring up both the thrill of the mission and the undeniable connection they already shared.

At the end of the briefing, the room began to clear out, but Diana and Bucky lingered. As they stood near the doorway, their teasing smiles faded into something softer, more real. Without thinking, Bucky reached out, cupping Diana's cheek gently, his eyes searching hers.

"I think we'll be pretty convincing," he murmured, his thumb brushing her skin.

Diana's breath hitched slightly as her heart raced, the space between them shrinking until she could feel the warmth of his breath. "I'd say so," she whispered back, her voice barely audible.

And then, before either of them could second-guess it, Bucky leaned in, his lips meeting hers in a soft, lingering kiss. It was slow, tender, but filled with the promise of something deeper. Diana melted into it, her hand sliding up to rest on his chest as she kissed him back, their connection finally breaking the surface.

When they finally pulled apart, both were smiling, their foreheads resting together as the weight of their new reality settled in.

"Well," Diana said with a smirk, "I guess we just had our first undercover rehearsal."

Bucky chuckled, pulling her close once more. "Looks like we're more than ready."

And with that, they stepped out of the room, hand in hand, ready to face the mission together as partners—both on and off the field.
