The next day, Bucky and Diana stood side by side at the jet, their bags packed as they prepared for their temporary relocation. Nick Fury, arms crossed, addressed them with his usual serious expression.
"You two will need to be briefed on your replacement before you go," Fury said. "She'll be joining the team while Diana is on leave."
Diana nodded, but the sparkle in her eyes hinted at something more. Bucky smirked beside her, knowing full well what was coming. The jet doors began to open, and as soon as the ramp lowered, Diana let out an excited squeal.
"Oh my god!" Diana exclaimed, bouncing on her feet like a fangirl. "Serenity!"
Walking down the ramp was none other than Diana's identical twin sister, Serena, known to her family as Serenity. Her hair was curlier, her physique more muscular from spending extra time in the gym, but otherwise, she looked like Diana's mirror image. Bucky burst out laughing at the sight of everyone's jaws dropping, including Sam's and Tony's, who exchanged confused glances.
"No way..." Sam muttered, eyes wide.
"Twins. Great, now there's two of them," Tony quipped, rubbing his temples as if to stave off a headache.
Steve, on the other hand, stood frozen, his face turning a bright shade of red. His blue eyes widened as Serena sauntered down the ramp, all confidence and smiles. The sight of her left him completely speechless, much to Bucky's amusement.
Serena bit her lip to hold back a laugh, noticing Steve's reaction right away. Instead of commenting on it, she marched up to Diana, pulling her sister into a tight hug and kissing her cheeks affectionately. "Hey, sis! Missed you."
Diana grinned, hugging her back. "Missed you too, Serenity. You're in good hands."
Serena high-fived Bucky, giving him a playful wink. "Take care of my sister, Jay. Call me if you need anything. You know how we work."
"Will do, Serenity," Bucky chuckled, throwing a playful arm around Diana's shoulders. He leaned in and whispered, "I should thank your parents for having two of you. Twice the fun, right?"
Diana giggled, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, you're in for it, Barnes."
Bucky grinned, nodding toward Steve, who was still trying to compose himself as Serena turned to face him. "I haven't seen Steve this happy in a long time," Bucky said under his breath.
Serena, seeing Steve's flustered state, bit back a laugh as she walked up to him, playfully snapping her fingers in front of his face. "Steve, you good? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Steve blinked, finally snapping back to reality, and a wide grin spread across his face. "Serena... it's been a while."
"You know, I'm kind of offended you haven't called me recently," Serena teased, crossing her arms as she leaned in closer. Her voice was light, but her playful smirk sent Steve's heart racing.
Steve fumbled for words, rubbing the back of his neck. "I—uh... I've been busy. You know, with the missions and all..."
Serena raised an eyebrow, leaning in even closer, until their noses almost touched. "Is that your excuse, Rogers? Busy, huh?"
Steve let out a soft chuckle, a blush creeping up his cheeks again. "I'll make it up to you, I promise."
Serena smirked and pushed herself up onto her toes, planting a quick kiss on his cheek. "You better."
Suddenly, Steve scooped her up into his arms, making her squeal in surprise. She instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, laughing as he held her securely. "Steve!" she giggled. "Put me down!"
"Not until you forgive me," Steve teased, his grin wide as he carried her effortlessly.
Watching the scene unfold, Sam crossed his arms, clearly jealous. "Really? The super soldiers fall for the twin sisters. How is this fair?"
Tony facepalmed, shaking his head. "You've got to be kidding me."
"Come on, guys, you know you love the chaos," Natasha quipped, grinning as she leaned back in her chair.
Wanda laughed beside her. "I don't know, I think it's cute. Steve definitely needed this."
As Steve and Serena continued their playful banter, Bucky and Diana exchanged an amused look. Bucky couldn't help but chuckle. "This is going to be interesting."
Diana grinned, nudging him with her elbow. "Who do you think will call you first? Steve or Serena? Begging for love advice?"
Bucky laughed, shaking his head as they boarded the jet. "Steve's going to crack first, for sure. You see how red his face got?"
"Oh, totally," Diana agreed, settling into her seat. "But honestly, I'm just glad he's happy. It's been a long time since I've seen him like that."
As the jet's doors closed and they prepared to take off, Bucky reached over, squeezing Diana's hand. "Yeah, me too. He deserves it."
Together, they shared a laugh, knowing that between Steve and Serena, there was bound to be more banter, more laughter, and maybe a little bit of chaos. But above all, they knew that the bonds between them—their love, their friendship—would only grow stronger.
