I try my best and shoot three more arrows at the advancing enemies.
"AAAGH! UGGH-"
The sound of glass shattered echoed.
Another one is dead.
I think that was the seventh.
My breath became quicker and my hands began shaking.
I know that death will come in this game, that I will inevitably witness people dying, but it still shocked me.
The way they held their own head before their demise was haunting, their face contorts in pain and agony as their brain is fried into crisp in the real world.
Thinking that it could be me and the fact that maybe I could've prevented it made me sick.
I wish I could spend my time thinking about it, but more people will die if I do, so I'm saving that for later.
I was so focused on shooting the enemies down, I didn't even notice a stray Kobold creeping up beside me.
"Watch out!"
A fellow archer further inside warned but the blade was already swung.
I crouched down for more room to draw my dagger and blocked the blow.
"Ugh!"
I grit my teeth as my whole arm went numb.
Just before I was about to guide the blade across mine and roll away, a trail of light went through the Kobold's body, leaving a red gash and spilling some bright red liquid that disappears once it touches the air from it.
The Kobold staggered and tried to slash at the assailant, only to be hit by a //Slant// on the weapon arm then a //Vertical Arc// as a finish.
I turned and focused on the person who executed the masterful maneuvers.
He was fast, not just an AGI build fast, but his reflex and decision making were quick and composed, his movements were still extremely clean despite visibly being tired, he must've been very experienced, at least more so than most of us.
A //Dash Strike// for a high starting damage and stagger, //Slant// to eliminate the threat while there's an opening, then a //Vertical Arc// which was my only gripe, just a little bit of combo and it would've been done, wasting such powerful strike for an already dead enemy was a mistake.
I turned to see who it was and I was stunned for a second.
I didn't know he was this good...
...
I panicked a little and ended up using //Vertical Arc//, a weird mistake which never happened before.
After the Kobold was killed, I ran towards Shinon immediately.
I answered the call for help and came here by myself, of course telling my group first and they approved, even saying that they'll send some after if the situation gets better.
Seeing what was happening, I was glad I came at the right time.
"Are you okay?"
She didn't seem hurt by the previous attack but her health bar was already in the lower yellow, so I asked just to make sure.
"I'm fine, you came to help right? Don't worry about me and go help the one at the front. I'll support from behind."
She said before readying her bows and shooting another Lizardman dead and another two arrows into the head of a Kobold at the front.
