When I walked into school on Wednesday morning, I immediately sensed that something was weird.

All the girls had little presents in their hands. Some even had flowers. They all looked like they were giggling and chuckling about something. What the hell?

I walked further into school. Classes start in 8 minutes. My eyes skimmed over the walls and floors. The walls were the same old and crumbling ones. What was different today? It's just a normal October morning.

My eyes land on a pair of boys, who I make out to be JJ and some other guy from the soccer team. They were laughing and talking about something. Probably what all the others are talking about.

Then, I see Milo. He was limping through the school entrance. It wasn't an obvious limp, but if you looked good enough you could see. When his eyes landed on JJ he started running. I rarely see Milo smile, but when he does, it's like the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Though, this smile he showed JJ didn't quite reach his eyes. He looked.. tired?

He didn't look like he was in pain when he was running. So maybe the slight limp was just my Imagination.

Milo tipped his head back, chuckling at something JJ said.

When the other guy who was talking with Milo's best friend prior, clapped Milo on the back he visibly tensed. I could see him clench his teeth, like he actually was in pain.

"What's my dearest friend doing here staring at boys?"

I shrieked.

"Lia, you scared the shit out of me." , I slapped her shoulder, grinning, "For your information, I was not staring, I was simply observing."

"Observing what? Who's most likely to-", I slapped a hand to her mouth before she could embarrass me even more.

"Observing people. Is today some special day? Why does quite literally every girl have gifts in their hands?", I asked Lia. I grew pretty fond of her. Since the party incident, she's been acting like my bodyguard all day, everyday. I appreciate it all, but sometimes it's a bit too much.

"It's that bastard's birthday," she rolled her eyes, pointing with her pointer finger at Milo who was now smiling awkwardly at all the girls giving him presents and flowers. He even had lipstick smeared on his left cheek.

"Oh," was all I could say. I watched Milo a little longer seeing how he tenses up and winces every time someone hugs him. How are those idiots not noticing?

My thoughts are cut short when the school bell rings, signaling the students to go to their classes.

"I wanna burn down the fucking school," Lia growls.

I hum an answer.

"We bitches are finally free!"

"Did you say something, Lia?"
