Prompt: 5 times Charlotte received awfully-written anonymous love letters, and 1 time she finally met the author.

Charlotte was running late this morning, having mistaken her calculator app for her alarm clock. In her drowsiness, she'd absentmindedly entered "6:00" into the calculator instead of setting the time. When she finally woke up, it was already 6:48, and with a class scheduled to begin at 7:30, panic set in.

Fortunately, Charlotte was quick on her feet. She managed to shower in just five minutes and dressed in another five, leaving their house by 7:00 with no breakfast. However, as she stood on the roadside, desperately trying to hail a scooter, she realized there were none in sight.

"Damn it," she muttered under her breath, her mind racing with thoughts of whether her best friend Engfa had already left for school.

Engfa, who had been her friend since elementary school, rode her own scooter on the way to school, but lived quite a distance away from Charlotte's house. Perhaps Charlotte could ask her to give her a ride today. She tried calling Engfa, but there was no answer.

As she glanced at her phone, the clock read 7:15, and dread washed over her. She knew she would be late for her English class--a class she really liked, especially since Miss Davikah was her favorite teacher. Charlotte had always enjoyed learning English, a passion that stemmed from her father, who taught the subject before here in Thailand.

Just as her frustration mounted, a lone scooter appeared on the road after five long minutes of waiting. She waved her arms frantically, hoping the driver would see her and stop. And lucky for her, the driver did.

When she finally arrived at her school building, she dashed up the stairs with surprising speed, feeling like an Olympic athlete in a race. To her relief, when she reached the classroom door, she saw that it was just two minutes before eight. Peeking through the glass, she noticed the front desk was still empty and some classmates were engaged in light chitchat. A sigh of relief escaped her lips--she had made it just in time. Mission accomplished.

As she stepped into the lively classroom, the air was filled with a chorus of overlapping voices--students laughed, shared stories, and exchanged playful banters. Amidst the noisy environment, one girl sat quietly at her desk, seemingly lost in her own world. With her earphones snugly in place and her head bowed low, she gripped a graphite pencil tightly, brows knitted in deep concentration as she focused on her work.

“Engfa!” Charlotte called out, her eyes landing on her introverted best friend. She knew that despite the music streaming into Engfa’s ears, her voice had a way of cutting through the noise. Engfa would always respond to Charlotte, no matter how absorbed she appeared.

The sound of Charlotte’s voice pulled Engfa from her thoughts. With an almost instantaneous reaction, she lifted her head, her expression brightening into a small smile. Their gazes met, and for a moment, a silent understanding passed between them.
