The days leading up to Kierra and Tasha's doctor's appointment passed in a blur of excitement and nerves. Tasha, fresh off her tour dates in Texas, had returned home just in time to accompany Kierra to the appointment. Both of them were eager to hear the baby's progress and, of course, discover the gender. But they'd promised each other—and their family—that they wouldn't find out until the official reveal party later that evening.
On the morning of the appointment, Kierra woke up feeling slightly anxious but more excited than anything else. She rolled over in bed, reaching for Tasha, who was already up and getting dressed.
"Morning," Tasha greeted her with a soft smile. She leaned over and kissed Kierra on the forehead. "Ready for today?"
"As ready as I'll ever be," Kierra replied, though her stomach churned with a mixture of anticipation and nerves. "I can't believe we're finally finding out."
"Same here." Tasha rubbed Kierra's belly softly. "It's crazy to think we'll know soon if we're having a little prince or princess."
Kierra smiled at the thought. "I know! It's so surreal."
They got dressed and headed out, driving in comfortable silence to Dr. Adams' office. Tasha held Kierra's hand the entire ride, squeezing it every now and then to reassure her. Kierra appreciated the quiet support—Tasha always had a way of calming her, even when her emotions were running high.
When they arrived at the office, Dr. Adams greeted them with her usual warmth. "How's my favorite couple doing today?" she asked, her smile bright as she welcomed them into the exam room.
"We're good," Kierra said, glancing at Tasha with a grin. "Excited, nervous...all the things."
Dr. Adams chuckled. "That's to be expected. Well, let's get started."
As Dr. Adams prepared the ultrasound machine, Kierra lay back on the table, gripping Tasha's hand tightly. The screen flickered to life, and soon, the familiar image of their baby appeared, causing both of them to smile.
"There's your little one," Dr. Adams said as she moved the probe gently over Kierra's belly. "Everything looks perfect. Nice, strong heartbeat."
Kierra's heart swelled with emotion as she looked at the screen. No matter how many times she saw their baby, it still took her breath away. Tasha leaned in close, her eyes glued to the monitor, a soft smile playing on her lips.
"And as for the big reveal..." Dr. Adams said, turning to them with a knowing smile. "I'll write it down and put it in the envelope as planned."
Tasha nodded eagerly. "We don't want to know until the party."
"Alright, then," Dr. Adams replied, scribbling on a small card and sealing it in an envelope. "I'll leave you two in suspense just a little while longer."
After finishing up the appointment, they thanked Dr. Adams and headed home, the precious envelope safely in Tasha's hand. Kierra's mind raced with thoughts of what the evening would hold. Would it be a boy or a girl? She couldn't wait to find out.
That evening, their house was buzzing with excitement as friends and family gathered for the gender reveal party. The backyard was decorated with pink and blue balloons, streamers, and signs asking the big question: "What will it be?"
Kierra's parents, Karen and Bishop Sheard, were there, along with Tasha's mom Bertha and their closest friends like Shamika, Courtney, and Brelyn. Even Travis and Jackie Greene, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and Tasha's spiritual father, William Murphy, had come out for the big event. Everyone was buzzing with excitement, eagerly waiting for the reveal.
