As the sun began to rise, casting a warm glow over their home, Kierra stirred awake to the familiar sound of soft coos from the crib. She smiled, glancing at the clock—6:30 AM. It was their first anniversary, and the excitement bubbled within her as she thought about the day ahead.
Tasha lay next to her, still peacefully asleep, a gentle smile gracing her lips. Kierra couldn't help but admire her partner's beauty, the way the morning light illuminated her features. Feeling a surge of love, Kierra leaned over, placing a tender kiss on Tasha's forehead.
"Happy anniversary, babe," she whispered, her voice soft.
Tasha stirred, her eyes fluttering open. "Mmm, happy anniversary," she replied, a sleepy smile spreading across her face. She blinked a few times to shake off the drowsiness, then propped herself up on one elbow. "Is it really a year already?"
"Can you believe it?" Kierra chuckled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "It feels like just yesterday we were saying 'I do.'"
Tasha nodded, her eyes sparkling with memories. "And what a year it's been. We've gone through so much, and yet it's all been so beautiful."
Kierra's heart swelled as she reflected on the year they had spent together—embracing the highs and lows, welcoming their son, and nurturing their relationship. "I wouldn't trade it for anything."
With a shared look of understanding, they both turned their attention to the crib, where their baby boy stirred awake. Kierra swung her legs over the side of the bed, ready to start the day.
"I'll get him," Tasha said, rising to her feet and stretching. She walked over to the crib, scooping their son into her arms with practiced ease. His eyes sparkled as he giggled, reaching for Tasha's face.
Kierra watched the two with warmth in her heart. It was moments like this that solidified their bond as a family. She joined them, wrapping her arms around Tasha's waist from behind, resting her chin on her shoulder as they both admired their son.
"Look at our little miracle," Kierra said, her voice filled with emotion.
Tasha smiled, glancing back at Kierra. "We did good, didn't we?"
