JUNE 6th 2018

As the two walked down the beach, hands drifting lightly and closely together.

"We're playing tomorrow morning.." She says

"Who said I was free?" He asked with a slight smirk.

"...Are you not a morning person, Cause I dunno why else you would turn me down.." She spoke with an attitude.

"I could have plans with someone else you never know" He snapped back smiling.

"We've been hanging out ever since we met one another, Who else would you have plans with?" she teased, narrowing her eyes playfully.

He chuckled, "I just wanted to keep you on your toes."

She rolled her eyes, nudging him lightly with her shoulder. "Right, because you're so mysterious."

They walked in comfortable silence for a few moments, the sound of the waves accompanying their steps. The warmth of their hands, though not quite touching, felt electric in the cool breeze.

"So," she said after a pause, "we're on for tomorrow, right?"

"Yea, of course" He replied looking ahead. As some time passed by they both made their way to his car.

They approached his white Mustang parked near the edge of the beach. The air was still, filled only with the distant crashing of waves and the crunch of sand beneath their shoes.

He pulled out his keys, twirling them around his finger for a moment before unlocking the car.

"So," he said casually, opening the passenger door for her, "when's your next game?" He asked

She slid into the seat, glancing up at him with a smirk. "This Saturday with some girl from Canada"

"Canada, You think she'll be a challenge?" He asked looking at her. She slouched over looking at him. In this moment he could see her face clearly, clearer than he did before, he could see her curls relax in front of her face, her Hazel eyes dim down and her lips slightly pout, he's mostly seen her as the confident, playful, and competitive woman who always seems to have everything under control. But as she slouches slightly in the seat with her guard down, and her curls fall loosely in front of her face, he catches a glimpse of something deeper.

It's as if, for the first time, he's seeing her vulnerability.

In this light, he sees her beauty differently.
