It wasn’t until the hot water splattered onto her hand that Yn snapped back to her senses, shaking off the numbness that had enveloped her. The realization of her surroundings flooded back, but the dispirited look on her face hadn’t gone unnoticed by Yvonne. Understanding the depth of Yn’s pain, she chose not to press further on the topic of her divorce. Instead, she gently shifted the conversation. “By the looks of it, you haven’t found a place to stay, have you?”
Yn grunted in reply, the weight of her situation evident in her posture. “I’ll stay at a nearby hotel for now and slowly search for a place,” she said, forcing a casual tone despite the uncertainty that loomed over her.
Yvonne nodded, her concern evident. “That’s a start,” she encouraged, trying to provide some comfort. Yn's salary as a trainer here was surprisingly lucrative, and Yvonne knew she had a few resources to rely on. Besides, Yvonne had always been generous, offering Yn commissions and opportunities to earn more, which helped build up her savings.
Yvonne knew many rich wives, and their children had wealthy family backgrounds. So the families who sent their children here to learn extra skills could obviously afford to spend. As a result, Yn had earned a hefty amount. Over the past year, Yn had earned quite a bit, thanks to the affluent families who sent their children to learn extra skills at Yvonne’s art school. The parents were wealthy, and their willingness to invest in their children’s education had allowed Yn to thrive financially, at least on the surface. However, Roger’s medical bills loomed over her like a dark cloud, a relentless burden that left her feeling trapped.
Though Taehyung had promised to cover Roger’s medical expenses, his betrayal had altered everything. With the prospect of motherhood on the horizon, Yn felt a renewed sense of responsibility. She knew she had to work harder than ever for both Roger and the child she was carrying. The thought of being responsible for two lives weighed heavily on her, but it also ignited a fierce determination within her. “I’ll manage,” she said, more to reassure herself than anyone else.
Yvonne sighed, leaning against the water dispenser, her heart suddenly heavy for Yn. “Just tell me if you have any troubles. I like you as a person, and we’re also working together, so you don’t have to hold back,” she offered, her voice sincere.
Yn wiped the water spill on the table with a tissue and managed a smile. “I got it,” she replied, appreciating Yvonne's support more than she could express. Yvonne’s straightforward personality and striking looks often caught people's attention, but beneath her exterior lay a fiercely loyal friend. Yn valued that loyalty, which is why she hesitated to burden Yvonne with her troubles.
Recognizing that Yn wasn’t ready to share more, Yvonne didn’t press further. Instead, she gave Yn a gentle pat on the shoulder, a silent promise of support, before leaving the room without saying another word.
As the door closed behind Yvonne, Yn turned her attention to the reddened patch on the back of her hand, where the hot water had scalded her skin. A wave of daze washed over her as she stared at the injury, feeling as if the pain was slowly creeping through her veins, spreading deep into her bones. It was as if each throb of pain echoed the emotional turmoil she was trying to suppress.
