"My girl?" I called out her but as expected, she didn't respond. That was her nature-stubborn and unyielding, always testing my patience.
"Meer?" I called again, pulling her hair gently, hoping to snap her out of her silent treatment. She winced and turned towards me, eyes flashing with irritation.
"What do you want?" She snapped, rubbing her head where I had tugged.
"You" I watched her closely, waiting for her reaction. She looked at me like she was done with all my antics, but I didn't let go of her.
I took her hand from her head and began massaging her scalp. I could feel her body relax as she closed her eyes, giving in to the sensation.
"What color dress are you going to wear to prom?" I asked, steering the conversation away from the tension. She opened her eyes, and I noticed how she started tapping her fingers on her chin, thinking.
"Gray" She said casually, and I immediately planned to match her. She was mine, after all.
"Okay, so I'll wear a gray tie." I replied, smiling to myself, expecting her to brush it off as usual. But then she hit me with a retort that stopped me in my tracks.
"Who said I'm going with you?" I raised an eyebrow, narrowing my eyes at her, already displeased.
"What do you mean?" I demanded, barely hiding my frustration. But before she could answer, the devil himself, Rushabh Malhotra, showed up. My so-called friend, who seemed to take pleasure in driving me insane.
"Because she's going with me." Rushabh said with that smug look of his. I wanted to punch that smile right off his face.
"Says who?" Her defiance made me smirk. Rushabh's shocked expression was priceless. Still, it wasn't enough. I needed her answer, and I needed it now.
