Yes, that little boy would indeed be very important to the Weasley trio in the future for...sentimental reasons. But for the time being, he was important to them because he could play quidditch.
"Harry!" There was a shout in the great hall seconds before a pair of hands clapped down onto Harry's shoulders from behind.
"You ready for your first game, kid?" Laura asked enthusiastically. But, seeing the boy's pale face and faint terror behind his eyes, he was very clearly, not ready."Hey, don't worry," Laura said in a soft voice, sitting down next to him, "you'll be just fine. You're the smallest kid out there and one of the best seekers I've ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if you annihilate this match."
She smiled at him reassuringly. "At least if you end up in the hospital wing, you won't have to go to your classes. So that's a bonus."
Harry cracked a small smile. Some of the fear behind his eyes going away. He was grateful for her because without her being there to tell him it'd be okay, he probably wouldn't have made it to the change rooms."Now come on, Harry. We've got a game to win!" Laura stood up, a big, toothy grin on her face.
Harry's smile widened, Laura has one of those smiles, one of those happy attitudes, that's just downright contagious. The two of them walked out of the Great hall together, Laura keeping a hand on Harry's shoulder.
"You know, at my first game, I was terrified. I was the youngest chaser on the team. The other two being a fifth and seventh year where I was only second. And you know what I did?" Laura said.
Harry looked at her, confused. "What?"
Laura's smile was replaced with a smirk, identical to the one her brothers wore when getting into trouble, "I hit the Ravenclaw keeper in the head with the quaffle and scored the goal that put us ahead at the same time."
Harry laughed, maybe this won't be as bad as he thought.~~~~~~
This was bad. This was very very bad. Don't get it wrong, everything started out fine. But then Harry's broom started to malfunction.
It was bouncing up and down, swinging back and forth so violently that Fred and George were surprised (and relieved) that Harry hadn't gone for a little free fall yet.
With both their beaters distracted with making sure the seeker didn't fall, the Gryffindor quidditch team was not having a very good time. With no beaters on their side, the chasers had to dodge bludgers left and right. Thank god for Oliver Wood, or else Slytherin would have scored many more goals than they did.All the reassurance Laura had given Harry that morning had all disappeared as he held onto his broom for dear life. He thought he was going to fall. He was barely holding on when all of a sudden, it stopped.
Harry looked up, his broom had stopped and it was back to normal. With cheers from the stands encouraging him to go on, Harry pulled himself up onto his broom and up into the sky to get a better look at the field and hopefully spot the snitch. He saw it. But he saw it a millisecond too late. The slytherin seeker was barely ahead of him as they both races for the annoying little ball. Harry pulled ahead of the opposing seeker. He stood up on his broom and....he face planted.
The whole stadium stopped and stared at him. Even the teams stopped playing. Laura, Fred, and George watched him in anticipation. The cheers that erupted were deafening. Harry had caught the snitch in his mouth. The team raced down to the ground and surrounded him. Laura being the first one to reach him.
He looked at her with the biggest smile on his face, all the fear and nerves from that morning, gone in an instant, "I did it!" He shouted. She ruffled his hair, messing it up more than it already was. "I told you you'd be good!"
She did what her instincts told her to do, and before she could stop herself, she pulled Harry into a hug, just as the rest of the team arrived. And what Laura didn't know then, was that that hug she gave him on that day, was his first proper hug since he was left on a doorstep all those years ago and he knew, he would never forget it.You see, Laura Weasley may be a joker, a prankster, or whatever else you want to call her. But just like her birth mother, she's a big softie for the people she cares about. Mess with them, she won't hesitate to tear your head off. They do something stupid, better get comfy, you're in for a lecture. She keeps her brothers grounded, just when it seems they're about to float away. And she makes sure they don't get into trouble by making sure they don't get caught.
But most of all, if she sees someone upset, scared, or alone. You bet she's going to help them feel better. Whether they're family, friend, or foe. They'll get smothered with affection whether they like it or not. Sometimes, she doesn't even need to see it physically. She can tell, she can feel it. And what Harry Potter didn't know that day on the quidditch field, is that that hug, is just the beginning of him finding his family.AN/ heyyyyyyyy.........look at me! I'm not dead! Hoorayy! Yeah I'm really really sorry it took me this long to write a new update but it makes me really happy to see all the people who actually like this and want me to update it! The funny thing with this story is that I know exactly how I want it to end, it's just writing the stuff in the middle that's difficult. And I haven't actually read the books in a long time (or watched the movies in a while) so if I skip over huge chunks of stuff, that's why. And I'm no professional writer. Nothing compared to some of the people on wattpad and tumblr like holy moly. Aaaaaanyways. This was really Harry-and-Laura-centric so I hope you like it!!!
Also, if you have any ideas please leave them in the comments!!! I'm always open to ideas. 🙂 until next time!
