After Lee has agreed to head out with Carley, they have walked to the entrance of the Travelier Motel, which has been overrun with zombies. They have whispered to avoid attracting attention from the zombies.
Lee has noticed movement ahead and has whispered, "Shit! Get down!"
A nearby zombie has growled, and Lee and Carley have ducked down behind the wall. Carley has taken her gun out, scanning the area cautiously. After a tense moment, the zombie has walked away, and Lee has exhaled in relief. Both of them have peeked over the fence, trying to assess the situation. A creaking sound has caught their attention.
"Did you see that?" Carley has asked, narrowing her eyes toward the sound.
"Sure did," Lee has replied, his voice low.
The lid of an icebox has partly opened as something has pounded on it from inside. Lee and Carley have stood up, Carley pointing her gun at the sound.
"Be ready to shoot," Lee has said, steadying himself.
The lid has opened fully, revealing Glenn inside. His expression has been one of immense relief.
"Guys! Oh, man, I'm glad you're here," Glenn has said, climbing out of the icebox and jumping over the wall. Everyone has crouched down again.
"That wasn't so hard," Lee has said, shaking his head slightly.
Carley has looked around nervously. "Can we get out of here before any of these things notice us?"
"Not yet," Glenn has said quickly, shaking his head. "There's a survivor trapped up there."
Everyone has turned to look toward the second floor of the motel, where zombies have been pounding on a door to one of the rooms.
"No way," Carley has said firmly. "We gotta go, now."
Glenn has started explaining in a hurried tone. "Listen. I was out here looking for gas. And then, up there in the corner room, I heard crying coming from inside."
"Who is it?" Lee has asked, glancing at the room in question.
"It's a girl," Glenn has said. "We talked, but she got frightened. I was trying to get in and help her, but she started yelling, saying I was bitten. I tried to convince her I wasn't, and that's when all these guys came out of the forest. A couple almost got me, and I ended up hiding in the ice machine."
Carley has huffed in frustration. "Lucky you. Now let's go!"
But Glenn has shaken his head, adamant. "We can't just leave her."
"Damn right, we can't," Lee has said, his tone resolute.
Carley has looked between them, exasperated. "You guys are suicidal over a girl!"
Glenn has frowned. "I'm saving her, with or without you."
Lee has turned to Carley, his expression serious. "Think about if it was you."
Carley has sighed heavily, clearly reluctant but unable to argue. "Fine. Let's go save Glenn's damsel in distress."
Before they have moved, Glenn has hesitated. "There's something else. Peter's upstairs too, in the same room. He's trying to talk the girl out of it."
Lee's face has gone pale. "What?! Peter's in there?"
Glenn has nodded. "Yeah, he said he'd stay with her and try to help while I hid."
Lee has shaken his head, worry etched across his face. "We need to move. Now."
Carley, seeing the concern in Lee's face, has sighed again but drawn her gun. "Alright. Let's save both your guys' people."
