"Hephaestus, I need to speak with you urgently," Athena said, bursting into his workshop.
"Yes, Athena?" Hephaestus replied, pausing his work on a new weapon. "Is something wrong?"
"I'm afraid so. Do you recall the prayer you answered two years ago?"
"The one from Polites? Yes, I remember. Why?"
"His son, Iciro, found the letter Polites wrote before going to war."
"He did?"
"Yes, he did."
"So, what's the issue?"
"I fear he may have discovered it too soon."
"Why do you think that?"
Athena took a deep breath. "He agreed to protect the Queen and Prince of Ithaca while Odysseus is still away."
"And what's wrong with that?"
"Do you know how old Iciro is now, Hephaestus?"
Hephaestus stopped working, a look of concern crossing his face. "Oh no... he's only sixteen."
"I know," Athena replied.
"And what's his plan?"
"I'm not sure, but I know there's no convincing him otherwise. He's very determined."
"So, what do you want me to do?"
"Watch over him. If he gets into trouble, help him."
"Like you did for Odysseus?"
"Yes."
Hephaestus sighed. "I'm worried for the boy."
"Do you know what he's planning?"
"If it's based on that letter, I have an idea. But don't worry, I'll honor his father's dying wish."
Athena smiled. "You seem very determined. I've never seen you like this before."
Hephaestus smiled back. "What can I say? I've been keeping an eye on him, and I admire his ambition. Besides, this is a task for a god, and I'll gladly take it on."
