Morgan's POV
Sitting in my new office at International School Manila, I couldn't shake off the feeling of anticipation mixed with unease. Bakit ang daming nakatingin sa akin? My first day was behind me, and now I was just settling in.
I was transferred from London to take charge of this school because of my family's legacy. They wanted me to manage it someday, and with that responsibility came a wave of expectations. I needed to command respect and deliver results-no room for failure.
My phone buzzed on the table, pulling me from my thoughts. It was Mr. Salcedo, the principal, with a message about a campus tour tomorrow with the student council president. Blake Kylie Vergara, the name was already familiar. She had been mentioned by several faculty members; apparently, she was bright and ambitious, the top student, and president of the campus.
But who is she really? I thought, curiosity piquing. I was used to a certain type of student back in London-those who were afraid to step out of their comfort zones, always tiptoeing around authority. I had no idea what to expect from this girl, but I had my guard up.
As I prepared for the day, I reminded myself of my goals. I had to assess the school's environment, gauge the students' attitudes, and maintain my reputation as a strict professor. There was no room for weakness.
The Next Day
Blake's POV
Woke up extra early, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. Ang daming nangyayari, Blake. Focus. I reviewed my plans for the tour, ensuring I would cover the essentials and sprinkle in some fun facts about the school. I want Professor Robles to see us as more than just a group of students under pressure.
When I arrived at school, I could already see a group of students whispering and pointing at me. Great. I was used to attention, but I didn't want it to distract me today. I took a deep breath, pushing my way through the hallways, determined to impress my new professor.
When I reached the meeting spot, I spotted her waiting, her posture rigid. Damn, she looks even more intimidating up close. She was reviewing a clipboard, wearing that signature serious expression.
"Good morning, Professor Robles!" I said cheerfully, extending my hand. "I'm Blake, and I'll be your tour guide today."
She looked up, her eyes meeting mine with a flicker of interest. "Good morning, Blake," she replied, her voice steady. "I expect this tour to be informative and efficient."
Okay, chill ka lang, Blake. No pressure. "Of course! I'll make sure of it," I said, flashing my best smile.
Morgan's POV
Blake's enthusiasm was infectious. It was a stark contrast to the students I had grown accustomed to. She seemed confident and eager, which intrigued me. if you're wondering, kami may ari netong school pero di ko pa nilibot, i did. I just want to know these girl more at para makita ko rin kung ano yung ma eeoffer nya sakin.
"Let's start with the library," I said, gesturing for her to lead the way. She nodded, her expression brightening.
As we walked, she pointed out various landmarks-like the old oak tree that students claimed brought good luck, and the art gallery that displayed works by students. She had a knack for storytelling, adding little personal touches to each location. I found myself engaged, more than I'd anticipated.
"...And over here is the science wing. It's where we have our weekly science fairs, and last year, we won several awards at the regional level!" Blake added enthusiastically.
I found it hard to maintain my usual aloof demeanor. I could see her passion for the school shining through, and for the first time in a while, I was intrigued.
"Blake, why did you choose to study here?" I asked, genuinely curious.
She paused for a moment, contemplating. "Well, I've always believed in pushing my limits. My previous school saw potential in me, and I wanted to be somewhere I could thrive academically."
There was a quiet determination in her voice that struck a chord. This girl is not just a student; she's a leader.
Blake's POV
As we walked through the school, I could feel a shift in the atmosphere. Professor Robles was starting to relax, and I could see a flicker of curiosity in her eyes.
"Sa totoo lang, this school is more than just a place for studying. It's a community," I explained, hoping to make a lasting impression. "We support each other, and I think that's what makes us unique."
Morgan nodded, her gaze steady. "I appreciate that perspective. Community is vital in any educational institution."
We continued touring, and I could feel the excitement building within me. I was showing her our world, and she was starting to see beyond the façade of a strict professor.
Morgan's POV
As the day went on, I began to see the school in a new light through Blake's eyes. She had a way of bringing the place to life, highlighting not just its academic achievements but also the spirit of camaraderie among the students.
I watched as she interacted with her classmates, her confidence radiating. It was refreshing. This was a side of the school I had yet to witness, and I couldn't help but feel drawn to it. Maybe this place is more than just a responsibility; maybe it's a place where I can learn and grow too.
When we reached the courtyard, Blake turned to me, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "And this is where we hold our outdoor events-like the annual spring festival! It's one of the highlights of the year, and everyone gets involved."
I could see the pride in her voice, and for the first time, I realized that she wasn't just a student to be molded; she was someone I could learn from too.
Blake's POV
As we concluded the tour, I felt accomplished. I had managed to showcase my school in a way that I hoped would resonate with Professor Robles.
"Thank you for the tour, Blake," she said, her tone softer than it had been all day. "You've given me a lot to think about."
Yes! "I'm glad you enjoyed it, Professor! If you have any more questions or if you want to know more about our activities, feel free to ask me anytime."
She nodded, a slight smile forming on her lips. "I will. And I look forward to seeing how you lead this student body."
Morgan's POV
As Blake walked away, I couldn't shake the feeling of curiosity and respect I had developed for her. She was an incredible student, and I could see why she was held in such high regard.
Perhaps this new chapter at International School Manila would not be as challenging as I had anticipated. Maybe, just maybe, I could learn to balance my authoritative role with understanding and connection.
I might just be ready for this.
