The night was electric, filled with laughter and pulsing music that vibrated through the air. Taehyung, a sweet and caring boy, stood in the corner of the crowded room, nervously fiddling with the hem of his shirt. He watched his friends dance, their faces lit with joy. He had never been one to seek the spotlight, preferring the warmth of his small circle rather than the chaos of a party.
Across the room, Jungkook, the epitome of the bad boy, strode through the crowd with an air of indifference. His leather jacket hugged his muscular frame, and the faint glimmer of tattoos peeked from under his sleeves. Jungkook exuded confidence, his cool demeanor making him an instant focal point. He didn't care for the superficial chatter around him, his mind elsewhere, fixated on finding a quieter spot.
As he made his way through the throng, he was distracted by his phone, a message flashing on the screen that demanded his attention. Without looking where he was going, he bumped into someone, the collision sending both of them stumbling.
Taehyung, caught off guard, looked up, his large eyes meeting Jungkook's. "Oh! I'm so sorry!" he exclaimed, the apology escaping his lips before he could process what had happened.
Jungkook glanced down, momentarily taken aback by the gentle demeanor of the boy in front of him. "Watch where you're going," he replied, his tone cold and dismissive, the words laced with an edge that only heightened Taehyung's embarrassment.
Taehyung felt a pang in his chest at the harshness of Jungkook's words, but he tried to brush it off. "It's okay! I wasn't paying attention either," he managed, forcing a smile despite the sting of rejection. He glanced at the floor, wishing he could just disappear into the wooden panels beneath his feet.
Jungkook rolled his eyes, pushing past Taehyung to continue his path to the bathroom. But a strange feeling lingered in the air, an inexplicable connection that Taehyung couldn't quite place. He watched as Jungkook walked away, captivated by the aura of confidence that surrounded him, even if he was rude.
After a moment, Taehyung shook his head, trying to shake off the encounter. He returned to his friends, but the atmosphere had changed; his thoughts were consumed by the boy who had just bumped into him. Jungkook had an undeniable charm, a magnetism that drew people in, even as he kept them at arm's length.
Time passed, and the party continued in full swing. Taehyung found himself occasionally glancing toward the bathroom door, half-hoping to see Jungkook again. He didn't understand why the encounter lingered in his mind, but there was something about Jungkook that intrigued him.
A few songs later, Taehyung decided to step outside for some fresh air. The crisp night enveloped him as he leaned against the cool brick wall, taking a deep breath. Just as he closed his eyes, he heard footsteps approaching. He opened them to find Jungkook stepping outside, looking slightly disheveled, as if he had just shaken off the effects of the party.
"Hey," Jungkook said, his voice softer than before, though the coldness still lingered. He leaned against the wall beside Taehyung, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Hey," Taehyung replied, his heart racing. He could feel the tension in the air, an unspoken energy that made him more aware of his surroundings.
There was an awkward silence, and Taehyung felt the urge to break it. "You're in my school, right?" he asked, trying to make conversation.
"Yeah," Jungkook replied, glancing sideways at him. "Sorry about... before?"
Taehyung blinked, surprised that Jungkook suddenly say sorry, "Uh, yeah! Don't mind it. I didn't carefull either."
Jungkook nodded, "Why are you out here alone?" Jungkook asked, his tone less icy now. "Don't you want to be in there, having fun?"
"I just needed a break. It gets overwhelming sometimes," Taehyung admitted, glancing back at the party, the sounds of laughter echoing through the walls.
