We all go a little mad sometimes

Hayley is being poured a shot. Tyler walks into the room. "You're still going? I drank enough last night and then I slept, which is what you guys should have done." Tyler says.

"We're just paying our respects to Dean."

"That's great, Chris, but could you pay them at a bar instead?"

"Don't be mad. We're celebrating our fallen hybrid friend." Hayley says. Hayley walks over to Tyler and pours her shot in his mouth. She wipes her thumb across his bottom lip and sticks her thumb in her mouth. Diana enters the room. "First of all, ew. Second of all, get a room."

Klaus enters the room. "Well, don't let me interrupt." 

"I didn't know you guys were here." Tyler says.

"We can tell." Diana says as she takes a shot that was left out. "I just popped round to celebrate Dean's successful retrieval of the vampire hunter. Yet when I arrived, I learnt that not only was Dean unsuccessful, but that Elena killed the hunter." Klaus says.

"Well, maybe if you had let Dean use force on Connor instead of sending him in on a suicide mission."

"Maybe you should mind your business, wolf girl."

"What do you care if Connor's dead anyway?"

"I have my reasons. They've ceased to matter. Cheers." Klaus takes a swig then leaves, leaving everyone else to think about what he said. "You know, Hayley, there's a lot left for you to learn. There's this little thing called the Hunter's curse. Killing a hunter makes you hallucinate about the hunter and you go mad until you ultimately..." She makes a death motion.

"So, you're telling me that keeping the hunter alive would've benefitted us?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying, yes."

"How are you even sure of that?"

"Klaus killed one of the five in Italy over 900 years ago. He got the hallucinations, and we were able to get rid of them. But with Elena...she's new to this."

"Aren't we all?" Hayley asks as Diana shakes her head. "Well, I'm just a wolf, what do I know?"

"That's right, you don't know anything. Which is why you should let us take all the decisions regarding historical enemies. The five is a lot stronger than you think."

"Connor was a lot stronger than any of us."

"Well, he said it himself, he was faster than your average hunter."

"Like Buffy?"

"Yes, like Buffy. Except different. He's not looking for just any vampire. They were created with the purpose of killing us, the originals."

"You said that you weren't created by Esther, so why are you considered an original?"

"I wasn't turned, I was made by magic. And every bloodline starts with the siblings or with I."

"Including your kids?"

"Obviously. So, here I am. Kill the originals, eradicate all vampire kind. Except it's not possible because the silver daggers they use don't work on hybrids."

"Oh, so you can't die."

"No, we still can. But you'll probably get killed first."

"Oh. Then what do we do now?"

"Nothing. You lay low until we figure out the whole Elena situation. They, meaning Klaus and Salvatore brothers, are looking for a way remove the hallucinations from our new vampire friend."

"Laying low is no fun."

"But it'll save your life."
