Girl in New Orleans

My siblings and I are the first vampires in all of history, the Originals. Three hundred years ago, we helped build New Orleans. Now, we have returned to find the city has a new king who rules with the aid of a powerful girl. They've taken possession of my brother, Elijah. A coven of witches want this girl for themselves. They seek to enlist my help, using my unborn child as leverage, though I suspect they have ulterior motives. So, I've made a plan of my own: I will free my brother, and reclaim the city for my family. Then, I will be king.

Over the course of my life, I've encountered no shortage of those who would presume to speak of good and evil. Such terms mean nothing. People do what is in their best interest, regardless of who gets hurt. Is it evil to take what one wants? To satisfy hunger, even if doing so will cause another suffering? What some would call evil, I believe to be an appropriate response to a harsh and unfair world.

Klaus sits in his study with the twins. "So, plan A has failed, plan B seems to be a lost cause and I had to resort to enacting plan C...you two."

"So comforting that we're plan C." Elizabeth retorts. Klaus narrows his eyes at the comment but says nothing of it. "So...I was thinking. This girl, Davina, has a power no one else possesses. She slammed your dear aunt Rebekah against a wall."

"And the point here is?" Thomas asks.

"The point here is that the only way we can beat her is if we find someone faster, someone stronger, someone more experienced, cunning, clever, and witty...somebody times two." He says, pointing to the twins.

"You want us to beat up a teenager?" Elizabeth asks.

"Not literally, Magically. Find a way to control her, assert dominance, show her who's boss."

"And then just leave?" Thomas asks. "Don't you want us to, like...eliminate her? You know, if she's such a threat?"

"No. You see, she's a threat, but she's also an asset. We have to find out where she gets this immense power, how she detects magic, this connection she has to Marcel. She's a very important pawn in this game and we won't be able to use her if she's lying in a grave."

"What if she tries to kill us?"

"Don't you witches have a way of subduing her? Take her, fight her, do whatever you need to do, just keep the girl alive."

"And what's in it for us?" Elizabeth asks. "We're not risking our lives to save Elijah."

"This isn't just about Elijah, it's saving your mum. No Davina, we get Elijah. Get Elijah, take down Marcel. Take down Marcel, please the witches. We please Sophie Deveraux, we get the hex off of your mother. Once freed, I take the reins, the babies are born, and I restore my status of King of New Orleans."

"Way to aim high, Dad."

"I am aiming high. New Orleans is the breeding ground of all things supernatural. This and Mystic Falls, but unlike Mystic Falls, we aren't a hell mouth."

"No, we're the portal to the other side, which is probably worse." Thomas says.

"It is not."

"Wasn't Esther on the other side?"

"Okay, maybe it is as bad or a bit worse than Mystic Falls, but powerful nonetheless. Which is why I need to be king."

"And what about us?"

"You could...take the French Quarter coven..." The twins give him a look. "Fine, the whole French Quarter."

"Okay, we're in."

Up in Davina's room in the attic, Marcel leans over Elijah's coffin and stares at him while Davina looks out the window. "This sucker's resilient. He's like a cockroach in a suit. Doesn't matter. Time to give ol' Elijah back to Klaus, anyway."
