Philza thought about her again; his mentee. The child he swore to protect with his life the day the two met. Looking at the paintings on the walls of the hallways in his castle only reminded him of her sweet smile, her peaceful intentions, her loveable desires.
It's been years upon years since he saw her face, since he walked out on both Techno and (Y/n). Phil could only hope she didn't go back there, to the place that had nearly killed her. Who would save her this time, since he wasn't there to guide her?
As he followed his two sons, Wilbur and Tommy, down the halls, he froze as he saw such a familiar face.
There stood Techno.
His eyes widened further as he saw his mentee, (Y/n), stepping out from behind his old friend.
He felt so relieved to see her again, to see her so happy too. She noticed him and her eyes widened in surprise.
"Philza, is that really you?" she asked quietly, walking up to him. Philza couldn't help but smile, her sweet voice feeling so familiar to his ears as his eyes filled with nostalgia.
"It's been a while, hasn't it? I almost started to think I'd never see your childish face again," he responded, nodding.
"Oh, by the gods, how you've changed! You've gone from an old man to an even older man!" she laughed.
"I suppose I've grown up some more, but don't act as if you haven't, too! You looked so different back then!" Phil exclaimed.
"I mean, you're a king now. You have a family of your own," (Y/n) remarked.
"I do. I have two sons now, as well as a wife. They're all quite special to me," he conceded.
"You've already tried to replace me?! How dare you!" she yelled dramatically.
"Calm down, (Y/n). I've never tried to replace you in my life. I could never forget you," he chuckled, his voice soothing as always whenever he talked to her.
"You've better not. Or someone else would think I wasn't a good enough mentee for you," she grumbled.
"You were the best mentee I've ever had," Philza said. "No matter how much time has passed, regardless of any other person I ever decide to teach."
"I better be," (Y/n) replied, her arms crossed. Phil chuckled; she still had that unique judgement about her, ready to strike with brutal force but knowing when to back down. It combined well with Techno's monotoned attitude.
"Why not have my sons show you around? You'd be good for them, and it'd be a good way for you to trust children again," he suggested.
"I don't know..." she hesitated, and he felt a flash of guilt all over again.
[Memory]
"So, (Y/n), do you have parents? Anyone you can turn to?" he asked awkwardly from where he sat in front of his new mentee, the cold snowy wind blistering just outside.
"I have you," she responded, not looking up from the politicial book she read.
"You know what I mean," he said.
"No, I don't. They died when I was younger," she mumbled.
"So then where did you stay?" he wondered worriedly, concerned about the child he had taken in around a month before, her wounds healed and now just very faint scars.
