The Luna Queen Is Back

Chapter 19

ZADEN POV

          It was all so appalling, turning around I watched Enisa slowly falling down and I caught her before she slumped on the ground. "Enisa! I called out but she couldn't utter a word.It was a devastating sight as she gasped for breath before finally passing out in my hands. I felt helpless at that moment, filled with mixed emotions. I watched as the man who stabbed her with a knife dived into the bush to escape. I didn't go after him, taking hold of Enisa, I climbed on the white horse and quickly headed for the mansion leaving Mia behind.

          I wasn't aware she didn't have a wolf, if she had informed me of this I wouldn't have dare venture into the forest to train her. She was unconscious and didn't make any signs of being alive. "Enisa you can't die, I won't let that happen", I said accelerating the speed of the horse and it galloped like an untamed bull. The mansion wasn't far from here, she doesn't have a spirit wolf and therefore won't be able to heal herself. 

           Watching the periodic rise and fall of her chest was the only sign that could tell she was still alive. I am going to kill that man, I won't let him get away with it, he will pay.... dearly. Spies were very common in Silverstone pack, but I couldn't fathom how they could tell the exact location we were, we weren't dressed like royals and looked like commoners. Someone sent them, someone has their eyes on us, but who?

           I bought the horse to a halt as I climbed down with Enisa in my hands  and rushed her to the mansion convalescing room. In haste she was immediately attended to, all sorts of medical practitioners flanked around her. "Don't let anything happen to her." I said in a hoarse voice and they nodded and took her into the room. I could barely look at her, I felt hurt for the way I have treated her till this very minute, she saved me at the expense of her live, how could I ever repay such a favour?....what if she doesn't make it? Why did you do it Enisa? Why did you save me?

           I quickly summoned the guards and sent them on an assignment to capture that strange man and bring him to me. "Don't hurt him or lay a single weapon on him, I will deal with him by myself." I said instructing them before they left. If father hears of this I will be strictly reprimanded, he isn't the king anyone, but he still bestowed so much authority than I could ever have.

     "So we got married to a wolf less mate," Ryan my wolf said in a sarcastic pitch that irked me. "Should we really be discussing about that now? Have some sympathy Ryan she saved our live, she literally put her her life on the line for us, and all you have to say is this." I said but he didn't care any less. "I am sorry if finding out who our real mate is does not matter to you, who she is, or where she is from is of no importance to you, However it is important to me and I will not rest till I find her, I hope you understand that? He said recoiling into his shell.

          I felt restless when he said that, he wasn't helping,  right now the last thing I wanted is someone poisoning my mind against Enisa. I walked away from the room where Enisa was and strolled  through the corridors of the mansion. "Ryan" I called out to my wolf but he was being inordinately reluctant to answer my call. "I am back! I heard a voice said and I came to a halt. That voice, it sounds so familiar. "Are there no maids in this mansion to welcome me? The voice echoes intruding my thoughts.

      Turning swiftly to the direction I was coming from, "It can't be", I said my heart throbbing against my chest...."Mother? I said to myself in shock. I wasn't expecting her to be back from the capitals so soon. Just then I saw some maids filed in making haste to where she stood with her luggage by her side. Her vehement aura overpowering the presence of the room. I followed the maid behind and came to a halt In front of her, still not believing my eyes.

         "Welcome mother, what a pleasant surprise, you are back early, I  thought you will be off for three months." I said grinning at her, then I suddenly remembered something, if mother was back then...."Mother you won't believe who I just saw." Rachel said walking up to where mother stood, with a maid behind her carrying her luggage. They were finally back from their seemingly fleeting vacation and had no idea of what has been transpiring in the mansion. Taking off her shade Rachel scanned me from head to toe and rolled her eyes. I ignored her and ordered the maid to take their things inside.

      " This is no way to welcome your mother Zaden, have you no manners. I won't leave, I demand to see my daughter-in-law. She said and her words left me startled, she has asked the one question I dreaded that instant. How did she find out I was married. "Yes Zaden, I want to see who this lucky girl is, that has won my brother's heart , where is she? Rachel said her eyes roaming around the mansion. I couldn't bring myself to tell them that Enisa was fighting for her live right now, and is unconscious, what will they think of me.

       "Zaden can you hear me, where is she? Mother said walking inside the mansion and I followed her behind, contemplating, whether or not to inform them of Enisa present condition. Just then Mia walked in, apparently just returning from the forest, she gazed at me then shifted her gaze to mother and Rachel and her eyes widened in surprise. I wanted to introduce her but mother made to where Mia was and smiling she said. "Oh my goodness, she is even more beautiful than I imagined, you made a good choice Zaden, she would make the perfect Luna when she becomes the queen.

       Immediately she said this I saw Mia blushed and I immediately realized that mother has mistaken Mia for Enisa. I didn't bother to correct their seemingly misinterpretation, this would give Enisa enough time to convalesce before mother finds out. "Rachel hand me over the gift we had bought for Zaden's wife",  mother said and Rachel handed a box over to her, she opened it and a black diamond necklace radiated, all the female maids gasped and Mia was stunned for a moment.

        "This is a small gift from me to you...what is your name? She said and Mia was reluctant for a moment then looked at me then the necklace. "Mia! She said and mother raised a brow, Mia! What sort of name is that? You will have to change that name, but besides that, this is from me to you", she said handing over the box containing the diamond necklace to Mia and she slowly collected it not tearing her gaze from it. "For me? Mia said scrutinizing the gift and Rachel handed another box to her. "Here, this gift is from me, do well to take good care of it, it is a priceless gift, it cost me almost a fortune." She said and Mia took the box from her and opened it, revealing a sapphire bracelet embellished with pearls. 

         There, our job here is done mother, we can fully settled in. Rachel said and I  watched as both of them walked away discussing, leaving Mia behind, Mia didn't say anything about not being my wife and I was a bit relief about that,for the meantime, she can keep assuming that position until Enisa is back on her feet. I made my way to the room Enisa was to check up on her, I hesitated a bit before slowly turning the knob of the door which opened. Her face was pale, but she was conscious, obviously in pain, her eyes met mine and she made to stand up. "Don't move", I said walking up to her,  she sat up slowly staring at me, I sat down beside her and she hugged me.

        "Thank goodness you are okay, I was worried about you, the maids won't let me see you or take me to you...she said her blue  eyes glistering  with relief. Why did you do it? I asked and she stopped talking and stared at me. "Do what? She asked giving me a puzzled look. "Why did you save me? I questioned but she sudden became quiet. I stared into her eyes but she darted her's avoiding my gaze. ,"You could have been killed, or even worse dead by now, why did you save me at the expense of your life Enisa? I retorted, I knew I shouldn't be questioning her right now but I felt the urge to demand for answers to this questions.

          "I...I.... ouch! She said shrieking in pain and I became alert. "My apologies, you need some rest, I will take my leave." I said making to leave but she held my hand. "Don't... don't leave me here", she said stopping me. "If you are going then I am coming along", she said and I signaled one of the nurses and she came to where Enisa was and injected her with a sleeping sedative. "Don't...leave me! She said slowly falling unconscious and I watched the nurses put her to sleep.

          I walked out of the room and found Julian in front of the door. What are you doing here? I questioned defiantly, his face had no emotions and his gaze was solely fixed on Enisa who was asleep. 'I only came here to check up on her, I was just taking my leave", he said turning away. "Stay away from her Julian, she does not need you, she is my wife and I can take care of her by myself." I said and he halted and turned to me. Really? If you are so over protective about her, then why is she so afraid of you? He questioned staring intensely at me which was intimidating.

         "I have no business with your wife Zaden, but maybe you should think and ask yourself why she didn't tell you she is wolf less." He said smirking and I was astonished, he knew this before I did?...Enisa told him? "How did you find out about that? I asked trying not to betray my emotions. "Maybe you have forgotten Zaden, but I read minds." He said turning and walking away leaving me speechless. "How much of Enisa does he know that I don't.....and... is Enisa afraid of me?
