Codey stroked Void's short fur, watching as the ferret peacefully lay on a shelf in the living room and slowly drifted off to sleep. He was waiting for Vivian since they both planned to go into town today for a quick shopping trip. Vivian had insisted on making her bed and everything, even if he had told them it was fine and they didn't have to keep that bedroom spotless. He didn't mind though, of course. It was her room now. She could do what she wanted to do with it.
"I'm done, sorry I took so long.." Vivian's voice finally called out from behind him, causing him to turn and look at the other player. They weren't wearing their box over their head today which was nice to see.
"Hey, it's fine. Are you ready to leave, Viv?" He asked, giving Void- who let out a little squeak- a final scratch on the head before walking over. The shorter player nodded in response. Vivian giggled softly and ran her hand through the ferret's soft, dark grey fur then looked back to Codey.
"Yeah, I'm ready. Have you got everything? The shopping list? Money?" Vivian questioned quickly, not planning on leaving until she was sure Codey hadn't forgotten anything.
"Yep, all of it. Don't worry." He reassured her, holding up the things she had asked about, "I'm not the forgetful type."
The shorter player took on a relieved expression and let out an audible breath as they saw that, nodding her eye. "Okay."
Codey nodded and unlocked the treehouse door, holding it open for Vivian who walked through and muttered a small 'thank you' under their breath as she passed. The tall player then shut the door and locked it behind him, pocketing the money and shopping list in his jeans pocket.
As the duo entered the shop, Codey immediately busied himself with grabbing everything on the list. For a bit, Vivian just followed him around, but since she didn't really have anything to help him out with she ended up wandering off to look around. They hadn't actually been in here before, having previously been living in the Void and only visiting the town to occasionally go to the bakery.
Vivian found herself exploring the store aimlessly, barely even paying attention to what aisles she was in, only the array of items on the shelves that ranged from normal food items to little trinkets to strangely shaped bottles filled with bright liquids. They finally snapped out of their little 'trance' as seemingly out of nowhere they heard a husky yet soft voice with a subtle Italian accent call out to them to get their attention.
"Hey, kid, looking for anything specific?"
The short player froze for a moment, looking around before noticing the counter, of which a large man with a mouth for a head and a black hat floating above it- who was wearing a dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, brown trousers, a black belt, black suspenders and a red tie- was leaning against. This must be the shopkeeper.
She shook her eye politely and stared down at the ground. "No, I'm just walking around, I'm fine."
"Alright. Say, you new around here? I ain't ever seen you around before." The shopkeeper questioned, standing up but still keeping an arm leaning on the counter before him.
"Oh, I'm not new, no- well, I'm not new to this game, I guess technically I'm new in this area though.." Vivian responded awkwardly, shrugging her shoulders but keeping her gaze planted firmly down towards the ground.
The large man simply gave a hum, his sharp-toothed grin still there. "I see."
Just then, Codey began making his way to the counter, looking oddly nervous in the presence of the shopkeeper.
"Morning." He murmured, placing the stuff down on the counter and a handful of silver and gold coins next to it. He seemed to want to keep the interaction short, for whatever reason. The shopkeeper seemed nice enough, so it was quite baffling to Codey's shorter companion, but she didn't question it.
