In Taehyung's room (Jungkook's safe house)
Time skips to few days,
Days passed in a blur. I barely left Taehyung's side, while my mind was racing with too many thoughts. Who is the mole in our gang? Who leaked the video? And most importantly, how did we even walk right into their trap? No one has ever defeated me before—none of my plans have ever failed. But today, for the first time, our plan wasn't just on the verge of failing—we almost got killed. I can't afford to take that risk again.
The meeting at the old factory is coming up soon, but they might expect us. Should I risk planning another attack, or should we just sit back and observe for now? Doing nothing feels like a death sentence, but making the wrong move could be worse.
Suddenly, Taehyung's fingers twitched, and his eyes fluttered open. Relief flooded through me as I immediately called out, "Jin Hyung! He's awake!"
Jin Hyung arrived quickly, checked Taehyung's vitals, and nodded. "He's stable now. He just needs rest," he said, glancing at me. "You should get some rest too, Kook."
I just nodded and said nothing. I couldn't control my thoughts right now, and telling him wouldn't make a difference. At least, for my relief, Taehyung had woken up, and I didn't need anything else for the moment.
I turned back to Taehyung, watching as his breathing steadied. Jin Hyung patted my back before quietly leaving the room. As soon as the door clicked shut, Taehyung blinked a few times, disoriented, before his eyes focused on me.
"Where am I?" Taehyung mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper.
"You're in the safe house," I said coldly.
He winced, his hand moving to his bandaged arm. "What happened to me? My arm hurts."
"You don't remember?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Taehyung's brow furrowed in concentration. "Yesterday at the docks, you were in danger, and I covered you and—" he trailed off, trying to piece together his fragmented memories.
I cut him off with sarcasm. "Don't stress your brain; it doesn't work right anyway. And it wasn't yesterday—you were out for straight 3 days."
Taehyung tried to sit up, but winced in pain, clutching his side. "Jungkook, I—"
I helped him sit properly. "Save it," I snapped. "I'm not in the mood for arguing."
He looked at me with confusion. "Let me explain, Kook."
"What do you want to explain? How stupid you are? What the hell were you thinking, stepping in front of a bullet? You hate getting involved in these things, right, Taehyung?" I blurted out while my voice rose unintentionally.
"I couldn't just sit back and do nothing when I knew you were in danger," Taehyung replied.
I clenched my fists, trying to keep my anger in check. "By going there barehanded where our rivals were ready with arms? Do you have any idea how reckless that was?"
