The other girl leaned in, her eyes narrowing. "You think you're brave, don't you? Standing up to our boyfriends this morning."
I looked around, hoping to find an escape, but the classroom was emptying out. I was cornered. "Who are you?"
"I am Soomin, Joonseo's girlfriend," Soomin said, crossing her arms.
"And I am Min-ji, Yoonjae's girlfriend," Min-ji smirked.
Before I could react, a sharp slap landed on my face. The impact was so hard I staggered back, my vision blurring for a moment.
"This is for slapping my boyfriend," Ji-hye stood there with a satisfied smile on her face.
"If they all are your boyfriends, how can you even be fine with the fact they were flirting with other girls? Maybe you all don't have any self-respect, but I do, and I was just doing what's right." I said with anger while keeping my cold hands on my burning cheeks which made me wince a little.
Min-ji scoffed. "What's right? In this place, there's no right or wrong, only power. And you have none."
I clenched my fists so tightly that my nails dug into my palms, breaking the skin. Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself, not wanting to let them see how scared I was. I grabbed my bag and said, "I don't want any trouble."
Soomin's eyes flashed with anger, and she pushed me hard. I stumbled backward and crashed into my desk. "Too late for that. You've already made yourself a target," she said.
Before I could say anything, Ji-hye grabbed a handful of my hair and yanked me backward so hard it felt like my scalp would tear.
Just then, someone stepped between us. I looked up and saw the same person who stood up for me in the morning. He was looking at them coldly. "Leave her alone."
Soomin rolled her eyes. "Mind your own business, Wonwoo."
Wonwoo didn't flinch. "You should mind your own. Now, back off or else I will talk about you and your so-called boyfriend to our parents."
Soomin's smirk faltered. "You wouldn't dare."
"Try me," Wonwoo said with a low, challenging smile. "Do you really want to risk it?"
There was a tense silence as Soomin and Min-ji exchanged uneasy glances. Ji-hye frowned and her grip on my hair loosen before she finally let go and took a step back. "This isn't over," she hissed.
Wonwoo glared at them, until they finally gave up and left, maintaining their arrogant attitudes but walking faster than before.
As soon as they were gone, my legs gave out, and I sank into the chair. My cheek throbbed from the slap, and my whole body was trembling with adrenaline and fear. Wonwoo turned to me with concern and knelt beside me.
"Are you okay?" he asked gently.
I nodded, though I didn't quite trust my voice. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you."
