In the days that followed, the pain of their situation became unbearable. Taehyung withdrew further, and Hazel felt her heart breaking with each passing moment. She tried to reach out, but he remained distant, lost in his grief and anger.
One rainy evening, Hazel stood in front of Taehyung’s office, rain pouring down around her. She took a deep breath, mustering the courage to confront him once more. When she walked in, she found him staring out the window, the weight of the world on his shoulders.
“Taehyung, please…” she began, but he turned to her with tears in his eyes.
“I can’t do this anymore, Hazel,” he said, his voice filled with sorrow. “I can’t love you knowing what your father did. It’s too painful. I need to focus on my father’s memory, on finding justice for him.”
Hazel felt her heart shatter. “Please don’t say that. I need you in my life. You’re all I have left,” she cried.
“I’m sorry,” Taehyung whispered, his voice breaking. “I need to be alone.”
