One evening, Taehyung received a call from his mother, asking him to attend a family gathering. Reluctantly, he agreed, knowing that his mother was worried about him. When he arrived, the atmosphere was tense. The air was thick with unspoken words and unresolved pain.

As he mingled with relatives, he spotted Hazel across the room, talking quietly with his mother. Their eyes met, and for a brief moment, time stood still. Taehyung felt a rush of emotions—love, anger, sadness, and regret. He wanted to run to her, to hold her close, but the memories of their fractured past held him back.

Hazel noticed Taehyung’s hesitation and felt her heart ache. She wanted to talk to him, to explain how much she missed him, but she feared that he would shut her out again. Summoning her courage, she made her way toward him.

“Taehyung,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

“Hazel,” he replied, his tone neutral. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to see you… to talk,” she said, her eyes pleading.

“I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” he replied, turning slightly away.

“Please,” she begged, desperation creeping into her voice. “I can’t bear this distance between us. I need you to understand that I never wanted any of this. My father’s actions were not mine. I love you.”

Taehyung felt his heart clench at her words. He wanted to believe her, but the pain of betrayal was still fresh. “Love isn’t enough, Hazel,” he said, his voice breaking. “Your father took my father from me. How can we move forward with that hanging over us?”
