As they sat together, the conversation unfolded naturally. Emma told him about her travels, and Lukas, who had rarely ventured far from his hometown, listened with interest.
"So, you've traveled to Paris? Rome?" Lukas asked, leaning forward a bit as she spoke.
Emma nodded, eyes lighting up. "Yes! They're beautiful, but honestly, small towns like this are my favorite. It's like stepping into a storybook."
Lukas smiled, and his gaze drifted to the sundae in front of them. "That sundae looks too good to eat alone. Mind if I have a bite?"
Emma chuckled, pushing the bowl towards him. "Go ahead! It's delicious."
He took a spoonful and tasted it, nodding in approval. "You were right. This is fantastic."
They laughed and continued to share the sundae, their spoons occasionally clinking together in the glass bowl. At one point, both reached for the same cherry at the top, their fingers brushing.
"Oh, sorry!" Emma pulled back, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
Lukas grinned, pushing the cherry towards her. "No, you take it."
Emma looked at him, her heart fluttering slightly. "Thanks."
