As the afternoon turned to evening, the sun cast a golden glow across the café. The streets were beginning to quiet down, but neither Emma nor Lukas made any move to leave.

Lukas noticed a small dollop of whipped cream on Emma's cheek and reached out instinctively. "Hold on—"

Emma froze as he gently wiped the cream away with his thumb. Her cheeks flushed a little deeper, and she met his gaze. There was something soft and unspoken in the moment, something that hadn't been there before.

"Thanks," she whispered.

"Anytime," Lukas replied, his voice quieter now.

They sat there for a moment, the world around them fading as they simply looked at one another. Lukas cleared his throat, breaking the silence but not the tension between them.

"It's funny," he said, smiling a little, "how sharing an ice cream with a stranger can turn into this."

Emma grinned back, warmth spreading in her chest. "Yeah... I guess we're not really strangers anymore, are we?"

Lukas smiled, his heart fluttering a bit. "Maybe more than friends, too."

Emma's breath caught at his words, and she bit her lip. She hadn't expected to feel this way so quickly, but it was undeniable. There was something between them, something neither of them could ignore.

She looked down at the empty sundae dish, then back up at Lukas. "So... what now?"

Lukas tilted his head, a playful smirk on his lips. "Well, how about another sundae?"

Emma laughed, her heart light. "I'd like that."

And as the sun dipped below the horizon, they ordered another sundae, knowing that this was just the beginning of something sweet and unexpected—just like the day they met.
