Everybody followed Willow passed a few other Giant Greens, to where it made a clearing. Enough space for every kitten to line up and for Willow to start pacing in front of them, blabbering instructions.
"Alright, who wants to do what?" The black dame grumbled. Clearly she didn't want to make the decisions here.
Suddenly all the kittens, buzzing with excitement and sudden energy, all started yowling at once;
"Hunting!"
"Fighting, fighting!"
"Exploring further down the Alley!"
"Guarding!" Heartily blurted out. The only thing on her mind was learning how to guard properly. She really wanted to learn how to stalk and blend in the shadows, learning to run on swift, silent paws, moving along trash cans without making a single noise. And how to yowl the famous alarm cry, yet if she was impressive enough, how to learn the Great Battle Cry. But talking with the Queens and learning that not many battles or fights occurred in the Alley made her think if she'd ever be able to even use the fierce cry.
But even if she got the chance to use it, she probably would mess up somehow.
Willow silenced the energetic kittens with the dismissive flick of her tail, but once they didn't catch on, she gave a loud, rough hiss that travelled lightly along the Alley walls. Each bundle of fur jumped, startled at the sudden sound.
"Focus, please! If you can't focus, then you'll be sorting through debris for the next five hours!" Willow rolled her eyes.
"We'll break off into groups. Wait here until I come back." Willow instructed firmly before melting into the shadows. The trainee's glanced at one another, confused but content. When Scout gave her an affectionate look that made her feel insecure, she looked away.
Willow was back within moments, Panda right beside her. The graceful feline had a smile spread across her face, which was quite common. The Sharp-Eye purred as if she was excited to start teaching the younger kittens. Heartily didn't know a time when she wasn't purring. She snapped out of her thoughts at the harsh voice of Willow.
"Blossom, Echo, you're with my guarding practice group. Skyler, Heartily, Scout, you're with Panda and her hunting practice group." Blossom grinned, looking almost over-joyed to be working with Echo. Heartily seemed immensely disappointed that she couldn't join their group instead.
She curtly tilted her head, then brightened up at an impulsive idea. She scurried ahead of the other cats in her group to walk beside Panda, and starting asking away.
"Er- Panda, I understand I'm in this group but uh, could I possibly join uh, the guarding group?" She asked politely, surprised at her unusual independent voice. Panda looked over her shoulder, surprise flickering in her gaze.
"Are you not wanting to train with me?" She asked quietly, though she didn't look one bit offended at all.
"What? No!" Heartily gasped, also flinching. Panda's expression instantly changed to looking rather injured.
"I just, er, never mind." She sighed, not wanting to start an argument of any kind.
"No I'm just joking, I'm not offended." She laughed before walking on, as if she had never even considered Heartily's question.
They reached another clearing, empty and spacious.
Panda cleared her throat, her eyes glimmering with authority.
"Hunting. Does anyone know what prey we usually eat?" By seeing the sparkle in her eyes, Heartily knew that their teacher knew this was a very easy question. But she was so caught up in her thoughts, she practically hadn't even heard Skyler shout out "Rats!" and get praised by Panda.
