Chief Ticker listened calmly as Heartily told him all about when Willow and Heartily first met him when they adventured out the city for the first time.
She continued on to when she snuck out of the Alley to try and help Willow, Panda and Blossom catch prey for everyone. She mentioned everything she could and tried mentioning lots of great things about Perry to try and see if her father would cool down and start trusting him the way she did.
Her father, suspicious still, kept asking trillions of questions such as, "Where does he live?" and, "Where exactly did you first meet him?" and, "Does he know anyone that we may know?" But the final question got her fur prickling, and her heart thumping with absolute nervousness that made her dizzy.
"Heartily," Her father asked, "Do you like Perry?"
Oh Garo please take the right words out of my mouth without getting me murdered by my father! She thought. She didn't actually know if she really liked the tabby or not, but when she looked into his affectionate eyes staring back at her, she knew she has always known the answer.
Am I too young?
"No way I-"
"No? Oh well, guess-" Chief Ticker sighed, but she knew he was partly happy at what she had said. The depth of complete depression on Perry's face made her heart burst. She wasn't going to let her father interrupt her.
"Actually, I was going to say, no way I couldn't like him." And then suddenly a furry bundle knocked into her, his head over her shoulder while hers was over his.
The look on her father's face made her slightly smile, but she hoped when he saw it he just thought it was because she was happy.
But what surprised her was that he actually smiled back, his fur smoothing down and his whiskers slightly trembling with mirth. "No idea why I'm saying this, but if you're happy, I'm happy. All fathers are that way, especially when it comes down to someone they desperately love." His voice was smooth and calm once again.
"Wait a minute I never said I desperately lov-"
"Perry, you can stay. For good, if you'd like. Heartily, if you love him that's fine with me. But, at least promise me this, if you two are ever going to be mates, which I'm sure will happen, at least wait until you're a year or so old. My darling is to young for kittens." He said to Heartily with both a serious and amusing emotion in his grin.
"Hold on I-"
"We promise." Perry both purred.
The Next Day....
The next few days were catastrophic. That golden and white cat (whose name Heartily had forgotten), that had saved Scout and Heartily from that mink had showed up, and everyone in the clowder besides Ticker, Perry, Scout and Heartily surrounded her, hissing and trying to lash out.
What amazed Heartily was that when Fang went to lash at her with his curved claws extended and his teeth bared, the tabby crouched down, which made Fang completely and most embarrassingly miss.
"Everyone, stop!" Scout and Heartily yowled at the same time.
Oh, Garo, oh Garo, ohhhhh Garo. Prepare for another story of how I've met THIS cat.
Heartily ran forward, breaking into the circle of cats and standing in front of the tabby.
"Ah! You. Thought you were part of this group." She said in a matter of factly tone. "In my methods, metaphorically speaking, it wasn't exactly proven, yet I had saw you from afar the other night, and heading this direction." She chuckled, and now everyone was confused, looking at each other then at Heartily.
