A car entered in the dusky realm of the night. In the car Jihoon and Han sitting in the silence, the sheer stillness, between them disclosing the firmness of the moment, silence was getting thicker around them as they were moving ahead on the way by each tick.
Thoughts careened being a trap of nightmares. Their thoughts were still embedded with Cheol by the strings of concern, who was all alone at the hospital, if they could choose, they would never leave him alone not even for a second but then they were compelled in front Cheol's plea.
Jihoon's fingers were twitching almost spastically on the staring wheel, all he wanted to end this trip soon, thus he could return back to his friend and, Han, his heart was leaping down in burden too, the conversation he had with Cheol back at the hospital-
"No Han, please go home, you have to, please for me, I promise I'll see you soon." The way Cheol cupped Han's cheeks, the way his eyes pleaded him to go, the way his hands desperately held him for the last time, before he walked away.
Every bit of those moments, were flashing before Han's misty eyes.
Han was longing for the blissful embrace of love and harmony, not for him but for Cheol, which he was dying to offer, he darted his eyes on the road, as if searching for an escape route, a route towards his lover but his hand was tied by the vulnerability his lover himself put him into.
Both Jihoon and Han were fighting against the wave of fright that threatened to engulf all and everything, and then the car stopped, they were outside of the Han's parents' bakery. The judder coasted back Han to the moment from his exposed world of anxious thoughts, his eyes were burgeoning with tension, as he clustered the courage to speak his heart.
Han- I can't do this. (he whispered, his voice grew faint and feeble). This is a big mistake, Cheol would have never leave my side, not even for a moment, then, how could I? I should not have leave him in the first place....
He tried to speak further, but his parched throat lost its voice, eyelids slumped, a heavy burden of sadness pondered down on him, as though the weight of the world rested upon his adrift heart, a heart still entrenched, to his lover.
Jihoon, who was silent all along as the rush of sentiments made it tough to form coherent sentences for him, at the situation he was unaware with.
Jihoon- Jeonghan. (he called Han stridently, brought Han's attention towards him).
Han froze for a moment, his eyes turned bare, a lack of depth in his eyes that was almost worrying.
Jihoon sighed heavily as he turned towards Han and said-
Jihoon- Jeonghan, I'm not certain how to state that to you but we don't know what the future held. (He spoke sternly, then his gaze shifted, and lost on some point outside of the window, like shells at sea). So, we need to act, cautiously, not over emotions, as this only will put more people in danger. (he continued)
Han's eyes took on an unsettled look, as he gasped on Jihoon's exacting words.
Han- but what I supposed to do, sit and wait. (he intreated)
Jihoon- Don't be his weakness Jeonghan, Cheol can't afford to have a distraction right now. (he replied instantly, his tone hoarser this time, while staring again into Han's eyes).
An Inferno, "the yawning chasm" was forming inside Han each time he wondered about the consequences of this night, which he buried beneath layers of numbness, that veiled urge to run, but where? Next to Cheol? Maybe!! But could he?
He was shattered and worn-out as he got off the car. In the next moment, Jihoon left and Han stood at the emptied street, saw Jihoon vanished into the darkness.
