Jane

I can't believe I am actually going to investigate my own case. Not really "My case" But I am still one of the main suspects.

I stare at the wall, trying to remember what happened that week, but I can't remember anything out of normal.

Did she have any enemies?

Yes she did. Ann, Mason, Violet, Ace, Jessica etc. etc.

But why would Jamie kill her? Emily was his childhood friend! I still can't believe that he could be a murderer. I am not a murderer either.

I am terrified, there is a killer among us.

Wait.

The day she got murdered wasn't a 'normal' day. Or so I would call it. I stood up super early and felt extreme hunger. I descended the stairs slowly and walked towards the kitchen to get something to eat, but I saw something. Or should I say, someone. I didn't recall Jamie staying the night.

"Hi." He looked out of the window, didn't pay attention to my presence. Was he just ignoring me in my own house? What was he doing here at the first place?

"Hi. I hadn't noticed that you were staying the night." He had turned around and looked me exactly in the eye.

"Cool." That was it. Jamie, his eyes looking ice cold as if he had been hypnotized. I wasn't used to a ignorant Jamie.

I thought he just was in a bad mood and went on. But maybe he wasn't? Maybe he was just planning my best friend's murder?

Jamie wouldn't do that. Not Jamie.

Why didn't I even know he was in the same house as me in the first place. I decide to ask Jules.

"Jules?" I shout from my room. His room is next to mine so it won't be an issue for him to hear me shout.

"What?" He shouts back and I hear his footsteps approaching. He opens my door and walks in. "What is it?"

"Why didn't I know about Jamie staying in our place the night right before the memorial?"

He goes silent. I think he doesn't understand why I am asking him this. "Jules?"

"Jane, I am sorry I thought I had already told you." He starts talking. But I can't even listen to the truth, he is lying. "We were doing a project in my room but ended up passing out so he asked if he could stay the night."

What an excellent lie.

No it's absolutely terrible.

He could have made up something better than this. Something like 'Oh I am sorry we were out the whole day and were really exhausted so we decided we sleep at my place.' Or maybe even a better one.

What is he hiding from me?

"Oh, okay. Are you finished with the wall?"

"Hm, hm. Come, I need you to see it."

He had made an amazing job, and this time, I am not lying.

He made an absolute masterpiece.
