Synopsis
Two powerful enforcers of the Emperor, a ruthless coven leader and the Golden Guard, Hunter, are constantly at each other's throats—both literally and metaphorically. After capturing Luz, the two of you interrogate her in the depths of Belos's castle, playing a twisted game of truth, lies, and manipulation.

The tension between you and Hunter wasn't new.
It had started long before either of you were tracking down Luz, before the mission to capture Eda even existed.
The Golden Guard and the leader of the emperor's coven, you, had always been at odds—two rising stars under Belos' command, but with completely different approaches. You were ruthless, calculated, and would crush anyone who got in your way. The golden guard? He was disciplined, but far too soft in your opinion, clinging to Belos' ideals with the naïve loyalty of a lapdog.
Every mission you had together felt like a constant battle, not just with the enemy but with each other. He hated your methods, and you hated his restraint. It didn't help that Belos often put you both on the same missions, watching as your tempers clashed.
You were almost certain he found some amusement in it.
Walking down the dungeon hallway to Luz's cell was no different.
"I should've gone alone," Hunter muttered under his breath, the frustration in his voice barely contained.
You sneered at him, not bothering to hide your disdain. "Alone? So you could mess up again and let the owl lady slip away? Face it, the only reason you're still in one piece is because I've been cleaning up after you."
Hunter whirled around, face contorted in anger. "Oh, is that what you think? If I hadn't been there, you would've gotten us all killed in the market! You don't think ahead, you just charge in like a maniac!"
You stepped closer, your tone ice cold. "And maybe that's why I'm still standing. I get results, not excuses."
His hand twitched toward his staff, eyes blazing. "I swear—if you think—"
"What?" You growled, stepping into his space, your voice lowering into a dangerous hiss. "You gonna try something? Go ahead. But don't forget who you're dealing with."
Hunter clenched his jaw, visibly restraining himself. This was how it always went—pushing each other, testing boundaries, but never crossing the line.
Not yet, anyway.
The dungeon door was ahead, but even the thought of Luz waiting inside didn't cool the fire between you. You couldn't stand how he tiptoed around every situation like it was delicate glass.
He was the Golden Guard, and yet he acted more like a babysitter than a warrior. If it were up to you, this interrogation would be far more... persuasive.
"You're so scared of getting your hands dirty," you muttered, pushing past him and yanking the door open. "Maybe that's why you're always behind me."
Hunter didn't follow you in right away, his eyes narrowing as if trying to find the right words to throw back at you. "You're reckless, and one day it's going to get you killed."
