LILITH

I remember laying in a hospital bed. Chest tube crammed into me. Staring at the ceiling. Listening to the breathing machine. No body came to see me. Only the doctor and nurse. I was so alone for five days. That's when I met her. The woman with the blood red hair and bright blue eyes with the strange slit pupils. I watched as she stood in the corner wearing that white gown. She smiled as she glided over to my bed and laid on her side next to me. She reached up snd ran her fingers through my hair. She never stopped smiling."Are you lonely?" I looked into her eyes. She put her arm over me and giggled. She was so beautiful. She pulled me close to her. "You will never be alone again." I continued to stare into her eyes. " Who are you?" She giggled again. "I'm Lilith. And I will never leave you." She leaned closer. And just as it seemed we would kiss, the doctor came in. I froze. I looked over to see that Lilith had disappeared. The doctor released me that afternoon. I laughed to myself. Another dream caused by the painkillers. Or so I thought. As I walked by a mirror on the way out, there she was in the reflection, smiling. She is always in my dreams. And like any female her apearance sometimes changes. Her hair is sometimes long. Sometimes short. Always a different color. But always the same Lilith. As I write this I'm looking in the mirror and smilling. Because she is in the mirror with her arms around my neck. Smiling. Waiting for the day I die. So we can finally be together.
