Summary: When Sharjeena receives the news she has been waiting for, she cannot wait to share the joy with Mustafa.
A/N: okay so SPOILER ALERT this one shot is a fix-it fic type from episodes 26/27. basically, i changed the storyline in which Mustafa gets his job with Danish and is successful in that, and Sharjeena's pregnancy is planned and it's all happy and good and blah blah because i feel bad for the other one shot i wrote of the angsty pregnancy reveal so this is me making up for it

"Aapko bahut mubarak," Dr. Abbasi says with a smile, both she and Sharjeena standing up, the desk separating them.
"T-Thank you," Sharjeena replies, stuttering over her words in a daze.
It's not until she's in a rickshaw back to the office, rattling along the road, that the news really sinks in. And when it does, pure, unfiltered ecstasy spreads through Sharjeena, unable to keep her smile off her face, so wide to the point that she wonders if the driver thinks she's crazy. It's a kind of joy she has never experienced before, one hand pressing to her still flat belly, as though she can feel the life brimming inside. In a way, she can, and it makes her smile wider.
As the wind ruffles through her hair, she feels the overwhelming urge to just go home and tell Mustafa the news. She knows he will be overjoyed, just like her. Things are finally looking up for them, with his new job at a new game developing company as the burden of financial stress has finally lifted off of them. Their apartment, despite the neighborhood, has slowly been getting a facelift on the inside, with new appliances and furniture coming in thanks to Mustafa's new salary. Things between them have been wonderful, and Sharjeena just knows that this news will only add onto the happiness that has blessed them.
The rest of the work day passes by too slowly for Sharjeena's liking. Her knee keeps bouncing under her desk as she writes out her reports, constantly glancing at her watch in hopes of time moving faster. Throughout the day, she thinks of how she's going to tell Mustafa the good news. They had planned this, wanting to grow their little family and have a child, but she still wants to plan some way to tell him; should she just announce it casually over dinner? Should she give him a gift that tells him they're going to be parents?
That idea seems to pique her interest. It might be a little cheesy, a little cliché, but it's cute, and Sharjeena decides that's the route she's going to go.
When the work day ends, instead of taking the van home, Sharjeena catches a cab and heads to the mall. Mustafa had told her he wouldn't be home until seven, so there's no worry of him wondering about her whereabouts if she's not home when she normally gets back. So when she gets to the mall, she heads right to where the baby store is, butterflies fluttering around in her belly as she walks in and takes in the sight of all the baby onesies, tiny shoes, binkies, toys, and everything else.
Maybe her hormones are already acting up, because she feels herself getting overwhelmed in the best way, seeing all these tiny things for tiny humans, and keeps her wits about her and heads towards a table full of onesies for newborns. Sharjeena stops in front of the table, her manicured fingers brushing along the clothes, throat locking with emotion that makes it feel as though her heart will burst out of her chest.
Some are simple, plain, solid colored ones, some are shaped like animals, while others have images on it or writing. She finds herself being drawn to the ones with writing, and Sharjeena bites her smiling bottom lip when she sees a pastel yellow one that reads Baba's Baby. Sharjeena's heart jumps at the sight of it, blinking a couple of times as she reaches for it.
As she holds it up from the shoulders, a breath expels from her and Sharjeena knows, right then and there, this is the perfect way to tell Mustafa. A little silly, a little playful, but it's the kind of announcement style that will surely bring pure shock to his face—and it's a sight Sharjeena can't wait to see.
