Anna knew how things had been lately. Mark had been hurting about the fact that Sofia wasn't his daughter.

Anna had told him that he could still be Sofia's father if it was what he wanted. But Mark had told her that he couldn't. It was too painful. And knowing his best friend had lied to him. He didn't think he could forgive that.

Anna looked up as he walked into the room. Ivy in his arms. She smiled. "Is she okay?" She asked as she pulled the covers back for Mark to get in bed.

Mark nodded. "Think she just wanted daddy cuddles. I know I've been a little off lately. But my best friend, apart from Derek has been lying to me. Making me feel like Sofia was mine. And she isn't. It hurts," he told her.

"You don't have to explain to me. I'm heartbroken for you. But you have to ask yourself why she lied. She knows you're a good father. So maybe she thought she could give Sofia a father?" Anna said.

Mark shook his head. "I don't know  anymore doll. I don't think I can forgive Torres for this."

"I know. I can understand that completely. But I stand by what I said. If you want to be Sofia's father still, then I'll support you."

Mark sighed. "I don't think so. I need to focus on Ivy."

"Okay. We love you."

"Love you too."

Anna walked into the hospital. She looked to see Ella who walked over to her. "How do you cope with a newborn? It's so hard."

"Tell me about it. Ivy was so small and poorly though. I didn't get to do much with her. How is my little jasmine?" She asked.

"She's fine. It's hard at the moment cause of everything that's happened with Alex and Mer. We're staying in a hotel. Which isn't easy with a surprise newborn. But we're happy. We're making it work," Ella told her.

Anna nodded. "Alex and Mer still not talking?" She asked as she looked to her.

"Nope. It's not that we were staying at Mer's forever. We do want our own place. So I think this has just sped up the process."

Anna sat with the other residents in the cafeteria. April, who had been named chief resident, walked over. "Good morning. And uh, welcome to your final year of residency. Um... this breakfast is the one time when all the fifth years and the attendings will be in the same room. So, so use your time wisely, residents. Find a mentor. Ask questions. Get advice on your futures. And um, I see you're already chatting away. So that's... that's good. Just carry on," she said.

Anna looked to Ella and grinned. "I love April. I do. She's quirky. But I don't think she'll survive as chief resident. I wouldn't do it as I want more time with Ivy. I'm shocked you weren't considered," she said.

Ella shook her head. "No I don't think I'd be able to boss Alex around. I don't think he would take me serious," she told her.

"Why? Do it enough in the bedroom?" Anna asked with a grin as she ate her bagel.

Ella rolled her eyes. "Go and suck Sloan's cock," she said as she took a sip of her coffee.

"Speaking of my baby daddy. There he is. And there's Jackson. He's interested in plastics?" Anna asked.

Ella nodded. "Yeah. It's what he's been talking about lately. He says Mark is a great teacher," she told her.

"Oh wow. I didn't think Mark would want to teach anybody to be honest. He's not the teacher type," Anna said with a shrug.
