Magic tricks

I was excited about going to the cinema with Crowley and Aziraphale but then I remembered- I'd have to go outside.

I know those men are gone and I'm safe here, but what if I'm not? What if they come back? Or someone else wants payback? What if it happens all over again?

"So, do you have any particular film you wish to watch?"

"Uhm... You know, I was thinking maybe we could get a TV. Then we could watch all the movies we want whenever we want without leaving the bookshop."

"Oh, well that sounds splendid. I should go ask Maggie and Nina where to get one of those. Care to join me?" He starts making his way to the exit.

"Uh, no. I'm good in here. You don't have to go either." I walk in front of him to stop him. He looked concerned, "I want to learn more about those magic tricks." I quickly come up with a reason to stay inside.

He lights up at the word magic, "Oh, I know exactly which magic trick to teach you next. You'll love it." 

"Great." I smile, taking a glance at the door before following him.

I do enjoy learning from Aziraphale, he has much more patience teaching me than anyone else has had. And learning these magic tricks is so much fun.

"Uh, what's going on?" Crowley asks, entering the room ready to leave for the cinema.

"Aziraphale is teaching me some more magic tricks." They say shuffling a deck of cards, their shuffling skills needing some work.

"What about the cinema?" He looks over to Aziraphale who is immersed with the child.

"Let's go another day- look. Pick a card."  They hold out a spread deck.

Crowley sighs before taking a card and sitting down.

Six of Hearts.

"Okay, now memorize your card and put it back." 

After Crowley puts the card back they shuffle the deck again, this time with their eyes closed.

Once they're done shuffling they pick out the first card from on top of the deck.

"Is this your card?" They hold out a Six of Clubs. 

"No." Crowley shakes his head.

"Oh." They look at the card disappointingly. 

Aziraphale looks at them with sympathy, ready to comfort them and have them try again.

"Well, how about this one?" They flip the card around to reveal a Six of Hearts. 

"Oh, wonderful!" Aziraphale cheers. 

They laugh at the praise, a new moment for them as pride and happiness fill their chest. 

"Very good showmanship as well." 

The continuous praises from Aziraphale almost made them turn red. 

"Yeah, not bad.", Crowley compliments.

They were trapped with a smile, it hurt smiling so much but still felt nice. They didn't need to go outside. They could stay inside forever. The world was dangerous and frightening, in here they could stay safe and happy.
